Yeah, we'll talk about the news gatherers a bit later because they are very strange.

The main sort of thrust of the plot is the allied nations, a group of blue-helmeted peacekeepers who are not the UN, not at all the UN, can't stress that enough, are turning up in the nation of Shadaloo, which I understand is named after the villain's crime syndicate in the original games when he is dictator of this fictional state.

and their first move to try and establish peace in shadow loo is that um the leader of this allied nations troop colonel william f guile played by jean-claude van damme goes on live tv and calls general bison a bastard and a dickhead

He's the one racially unambiguous character in this film.

You're not thinking, wow, I wonder where Shadaloo got this guy from during that scene.

It's very helpful to have that sort of North Star, isn't it? What sort of bad guy are we dealing with here? Ah, one with a camel.

blatantly modeled after Mike Tyson, but, you know, Capcom was less afraid to make that known now than when SF2 came around, they had to do the whole name shift thing with Balron, Vega, and M. Bison, which was back before co-hosts died.

Like, I actually went through a very nerdy sort of thing of, you know, analyzing and commentating on every Street Fighter character before But before I talked about the SF2 bosses, I had this big old breakdown of the whole Shadaloo shuffle, as I call it, between why the three new bosses had their names changed.

And like, you know, Balrog, as we know him here, is Mike Bison, of course.

in Japan, but there's a lot of ambiguity as to whether Balrog was Mike from the first game.

And it also made Ed more interesting, too, to see how he grew up from this rough man's tutelage, but it would have been a lot worse what was originally in store for him.

And I think that's really interesting.

And then pretty much as soon as they established that, they ditched that and then go in a less interesting direction of the whole Neo-Shadaloo thing.

It was like, I just want Shadaloo.

It's an intense thing and I was so grateful when he started talking to me about his vision for the movie and the story and the plot because what was more important to him as he establishes this world was less of Bison's physical prowess and mastery of the psychopower and it was much more about this organization, this movement, this religion basically that he has built around the concepts of Shadaloo and now he has an entire army ready to see it go into action And he's completely impotent.

Like he privately secretly does not have the psycho power yet.

And he does not have the abilities that he's supposed to have that you when you watch when you play the video game, you know that he could do all these things like because he's finally mastered them.

You know, that's already on your mind as you enter it.

I created like the

seven pillars of Shadaloo.

We wrote out this whole like religion, this idea, because I'm in like 12 steps.

Is that General Bison wants to, I assume, take over the country and then the world.

And the country of Shadaloo.

And so...

He's getting the shipment from a gun runner named Saget.

Blanca's actual backstory is kind of even crazier than this.

Oh, really? His real name is Jimmy, okay? And he was on a plane that was in the middle of this electrical storm.

And it was later retconned down the line that the electrical storm was caused by Shadaloo because they created some kind of like weather device and that there was some kind of important minister on the plane.

So they were trying to take it down.

In Thailand, civil war occurs between the forces of drug lord-turned-general M. Bison of Shadaloo and the Allied Nations, the AN, led by Colonel William F. Guile.

Bison captures 63 AN relief workers and, via a live broadcast, demands Guile secure a $20 billion ransom in three days.

Guile refuses and vows to track down Bison and put him on trial for his crimes.

Figuring that Tyson's legal team would likely sue Capcom USA for unauthorized use of his likeness and name, Capcom rotated the names across three of the, quote, four heavenly kings of the Shadaloo, which I didn't even know that's what they were called, the four main bosses.

And Guile is working alongside his assistant, Cammy, to track down the location of M. Bison.

M. Bison is a tyrant who rules over the land of Shadaloo.

He has a strong army, largely thanks to the funding that he gets from being a drug lord.

And he had all this money prior to taking control, so he was able to have a private army.

I think she does open a

restaurant.

Also, in the 1994 movie, Shadaloo is a country.

In the games, it is a criminal enterprise.
