Seven Brides for Seven Brothers

So those are really close to me, but there's a ton of Mormon mythology in the middle of all this.

When I was researching this topic, realizing how many Broadway musicals I grew up watching that are set in the Western theme from Paint Your Wagon to Oklahoma to Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, it goes on and on.

We're kind of obsessed with this era and this idea of cowboys.

Now, when I was a kid, we would also visit Island Park, Idaho, West Yellowstone and, you know, places like Afton, Wyoming, where we would always see these like these wranglers singing songs and riding horses.

Uh, wow, fellas.

Well, I think it was Austin that c- uh, talking about Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, and he said, "Hitler is fresh in the dirt."

Hitler is alive and well, and, um, doing monstrous things during the time of this release in 1941.

We are.

do indeed.

And she still does work.

And, yeah, well, here she is.

I spoke to Ruta Lee about seven brides for seven brothers.

Every fielder wears a bonnet with some spring daisies on it.

i don't know why i first saw the movie but it was definitely like early 2010s mostly during the 2000s we just didn't really have a lot of access to movies and stuff and i think that's why i've overcompensated now I don't know if, I mean, our family, we did kind of watch musicals, but we also didn't like watch a large variety.

It was like maybe like a handful, like Seven Brides for Seven Brothers.

And Stanley Donen also very experienced director, co-director with Gene Kelly, but also doing movies on his own that were extremely successful.

A couple I just want to mention real quick is one of my favorites, seven brides for seven brothers is, is a favorite musical of mine.

And of course, uh, um, Bedazzled, which I always find interesting because it's not a musical, but I love that comedy.

Not the later Bedazzled, but the one that was earlier in the 70s.

in the film and i think that's the huge sort

of dominates him in the first part of that dance sequence and it's like oh yeah

now what i love about this musical there's a lot of musicals they'll sing and they'll dance and and the dancing will go on like um like a seven brides for seven brothers they'll have the barn building scene and everybody's dancing around and there's some lyrics going on they do that with certain songs in this particularly in the broadway melody But the Broadway melody, Chid Cerise has that dominating performance where she's wearing the green dress in the beginning.

And she is so sexy in that and how she goes about doing everything.

You don't think about how old something is.

I didn't think about how old, I mean, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers is my mom's favorite movie, and it's my favorite movie.

And I grew up loving it so much.

And I still, I can listen to the score in the car over and over again.
