Sergei Parajanov

When we shot Organize, I felt like because Organize is a bit more poetic than than literal.

It's just like if you look at the works of Sergei Parajanov, his works are very poetic.

You don't see stories rolling.

Every frame is like a story of its own.

Both of them have been working together on an evening-length multimedia piece for solo voice, electronics ensemble, and video projection called I Am He Whose Life and Soul are Torment, which premieres on October 8th, the first night of this year's Other Minds 30 Festival.

It's a collaboration between the two of them about the life of the visionary Georgian-born Soviet Armenian film director Sergei Parajanov that uses a multilingual text taken from the 18th century bard Sayat-Nova.

Sayat-Nova was the subject of Parajanov's masterpiece, 1969, The Color of Pomegranates.

The work sounds more complicated than it is.
