Episode 7, The Hollow Tree.

Walt disappears into an office with Detective Wu.

Wu said he's not under arrest.

No cuffs.

But why two officers? For intimidation? If so, it's working.

She tripped on a tree stump or roots, fell, got hypothermia.

Tragic, but no whiff of foul play.

Why now, all these months later, would the Hargraves want to look at Walt? I look at the threat note I'd brought for Detective Wu.

I turn.

Detective Wu is standing there, holding a flashlight.

Evelyn.

Detective Wu, hi.

Normally, I wouldn't get called out for a missing tree at midnight.

My patrol officers notified me as soon as they realized a significant tree was gone.

That's true, and as a matter of fact, someone else is assisting us with that very endeavor.

Hey, Trisha, can you come join us over here for a sec?

Still, if the Hargraves are worried about timber poaching, they're hiding it pretty well.

Doesn't sound like they're telling Victoria Carrington about Detective Wu's investigation, or ours.

Maybe they're profiting from the tree removal, especially with Alex so eager to sell.

Aren't those things at odds? Profiting from timber poaching and then wanting to sell that land?
