He says that in latter days, you know, the temptations that people face from paraphrasing will be largely psychological, you know, nature.

It's true.

So, um, so we're talking about like also, you know, the psyche and like that's, that is our mind, which is like essentially the soul means psyche, right? Like that's connected and we're healing not just our body, but we're healing our soul.

Like when we take, when we receive communion, it's for healing of the soul and the body and, And I look at my awakening I had in 2020 and the mental health issues I had.

And what you said about St. Seraphim, how the trials of our day are going to be psychological trials.

We're needing to heal this mental illness in our minds from culture.

And the Russians simply took this for granted.

And sometimes it's left to people like, you know, me, who, Seraphim Rose, people who had no Russian blood to understand the greatness of what they had.

Russians take it for granted.

And this was one of Seraphim Rose's big statements, that this simply was day-to-day for them.

It wasn't anything special.

But the violently extreme violence of the Bolsheviks, I don't think our vocabulary really can match it.

But in these extreme conditions, we know, and it certainly wasn't in their interest to do it.

Because if they were caught, what would happen to them would be awful.

They took it for granted.

So that means that strangers like Seraphim Rose and me, um, Vladimir Moss, people like that, are, uh, are going to help rebuild it to some extent.

Um, and it was the greatest compliment that, that, uh, in fact, especially from the organization, uh, itself, which was the official group, uh, that was a big deal to me.

I was, I was a young man.

And I've had major people, as I-- we've talked about before, um, Russian Imperial Union Order saying that I have-- I, I understand Russian more than most Russians do at, at an intuitive level, not merely at an intellectual level.

That's been said of me before.

It was also said of, of Seraphim Rose, who was Anglo-Saxon, as far as I know.

I'm, I'm an Irishman.

So the inspiration for today's stream actually comes from Tuesday night.

Tuesday night we covered chapter six, The French Revolution and the Orthodox Survival Course by Father Seraphim Rose, in which probably about 70% of that chapter is on a section called Secret Societies.

And what is the point of Father Seraphim Rose including the section on secret societies? Well, he uses a document that was written, I believe in 1797 or essentially at the end of the French Revolution by a Catholic priest, Abbe Bruel, and it's this work that is really the most contemporary primary source we have regarding the French Revolution.

Now, what is the connection between the French Revolution and the Illuminati? Well, that's the point of that section in the Orthodox Survival Course.

Father Seraphim Rose is drawing the, basically tying the various strands together regarding the intellectual progenitor to the French Revolution.

And what Father Bruel is actually arguing and his memoirs on the history of the Jacobins had to do with the Illuminati and the ideas, the goals.

And that's what I wanna talk to you about today is really present a more of an academic and more of an intellectual historical approach to the Illuminati because this group as a historical phenomenon, of course, only existed for like 11 years.

It gets redated at the beginning of the 1600s.

So, and Seraphim Holland was the interview who is Saint Seraphim of Seraph.

And even the first time that we podcasted together, we started talking about how Saint Seraphim of Platina, Father Seraphim Rose was what brought us both into orthodoxy, God's revelation of the human heart.

And so I love, this is how the saints work.

It's, you know, they're in the background, like orchestrating things, helping God.

And what Father Seraphim highlights, and I articulate this all in my new ebook, is that The revolution of 1848 or the French Revolution, the American Revolution, is a spirit unique to the West from 1054 forward.

In the Orthodox Survival Course, Father Seraphim Rose is making the argument, and this is one of the novelties of his intellectual history, is he's not pointing at the revolutionary spirit beginning with the French or the American or the Masonic Lodges or even the Reformation.

He's saying it actually goes all the way back to a theological revolutionary spirit that split the original church.

And that's why then when we look at that from 1054 forward from scholasticism to...

Across the border, in Austrian-ruled Lombardy, Venetia, Italian nationalists revolt in Milan and Venice, and drive out the Austrian garrisons.

But as dramatic as these events are, they're about to be eclipsed by news from Paris.

Here's another quote from Prince Clemens von Metternich, the gentleman that Father Seraphim Rose said was a sympathetic figure for Orthodox Christians, given the historical context he was in.

He says, when France sneezes, Europe catches a cold.

A word for today, a reading from Father Seraphim Rose.

The Antichrist must be understood as a spiritual phenomenon.

Why would everyone in the world want to bow down to him? Obviously, it is because there is something in him which responds to something in us.

You actually said a word that I wanted to ask you about.

Father Seraphim Rose, who I know you've read, distinguishes between sensuous perception and genuine spiritual perception.

Can you talk about the difference between perceiving something spiritual and actually possessing the discernment to understand what you're perceiving?

Yeah.

So Father Seraphim Rose also uses the example of a donkey and the Bible being able to perceive angels.

You know, like the donkey is being moved, you know, moving out of the way of the road because there's an angel standing in the middle of the road with a sword.

And so he's saying, listen, animals can do this.
