Sequoia National Forest

It would be more land, more property than the Everglades, Yellowstone, Yosemite, Mount Rainier.

Sequoia National Forest, Grand Canyon, Great Smoky Mountains, all put together.

We would have more land in native plants than all of those beautiful national parks put together.

And looking at all of this, I guess I can now say one thing.

Welcome to Big Blend Radio's California Sequoia Country Show, home to Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks, Giant Sequoia National Monument and Sequoia National Forest, and the charming historic agricultural communities that make up Tulare County.

So

welcome, everyone.

There's so many different communities to explore.

And then of course there's Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks.

Giant Sequoia National Monument and also Sequoia National Forest.

And all those four main park entities are all connected.

And of course, Holly Streit is back here from the National Park Service.

[laughs]

And in s- people have started, when they go hiking in Sequoia National Forest, they start putting tarps under their car and kind of sealing-

Yeah

... all of the, the engine work.

So we're going on some, uh, herculean hike.

Like, they bused us into Lower Kaweah, which is part of Sequoia National Forest, and then we were gonna hike on our way back, and part of this involved crossing a river on, like, you know, walking on the stones in the river or whatever.

So I fell in.

[laughs] Everyone else made it across, but I fell in, and I'm like ...

There's so many different things that they have done to be accessible.

And even, you know, one of the communities that we represented, Visalia, Tulare County is home to Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks, Giant Sequoia National Forests.

and Sequoia National Monument, and they're all connected because they are protecting the world's largest living thing in volume, and that is the giant sequoia tree.

It's giant.
