United Torah Judaism represents the Ashkenazi Haredi community.

Shas represents the Sephardic Haredi community or the Mizrahi community.

You have the Litvish Yeshiva world, which is scholarly and meritocratic in its own way.

You have Sephardi Haredi communities, which have their own leadership, their own customs, their own relationship to the Israeli state.

You have Chabad, which is Hasidic, but does outreach and runs centers everywhere.

you have groups that don't fit any of those boxes.

Secular Jews in Israel and America often have the same default image.

When they think Haredi, they picture the Hasidic man from Mia Shirim or Williamsburg.

They don't picture the Sephardi Haredi family in Jerusalem, the Litvish Yeshiva student in B'nai Brak, the Shabbat emissary in Bangkok.

the image flattens their own understanding of their own people.

In all their ads, of course, you see the late Rabbi Ovadia Yosef, the spiritual leader of the party, who was the chief rabbi, a real authority within Sephardic Judaism.

But what they have is they have some of their seats come from people who are non-IDF serving ultra-Orthodox Sephardim.

But they also get a lot of those people, some of the people that you mentioned from those towns of Sderot and Ofakim and Nittivot, they get those voters as well.

And those serve in the IDF, right? So they had an ad that came out that showed a family sitting around a Shabbat table that was getting ready to make kiddush Friday night.
