Senior center

When you think about it, anytime anyone does something extra and volunteers, it helps the community.

My husband's a veteran, and a few years ago I convinced him to come to the Medfield Senior Center and join their supportive day group.

And him being able to be picked up from the veterans, him able to socialize with them, and feel independent.

is amazing to his mental and physical ability.

You know, the activities change, but the purpose is the same.

Very true.

And, you know, we often find that folks, my own mom included, who's 82, sorry, mom, I just told everybody your age, feels that she's too young to go to the Senior Center.

And

Now, this week, I have a question for you.

Where are the vegetables? In my last class at the Senior Center, Rionda House, where I teach weekly, we were having this discussion about vegetables and protein.

Now, at this age, I'll say over 60 plus, Keeping our muscles is important, and that means eating more protein.

But I'm asking again, where are the vegetables? When you start thinking about dinner, what do you think about first? Do you realize how often the answer is the protein? What are we having tonight? Chicken, salmon, steak, maybe pork chops.

I'm staying out of this one.

So, yeah, that's the following Saturday, 7 to 11 at the Senior Center downtown on Brunswick at 4.

And I am going to possibly steal a little bit of the thunder from our Post to Post show, which runs this afternoon.

Sure.

Can we promote these things? Sure, let's talk about lunch today.

Lunch today at the senior centers around town.

At the ECRA, marinated chicken thighs, potatoes, and vegetables.

The second announcement that I have for you is that on the 13th of September, which is a Sunday, there will be a women's event.

It'll start at 5 p.m. at the Senior Center.

There's going to be a salad for ladies, and it's always a good time of fellowship.

If you can join the ladies there, I know you'll be blessed.

Yeah.

We're doing a senior citizen class at the Senior Center.

And then we also have them in the Parks and Recreation.

Okay.

It's the one day of the year to relax under the summer sun instead of working under it.

Reach Out Morongo Basin is inviting your whole family to join the 29 Palm Senior Center for good food, good company, and a chance to win raffle prizes.

Plus, lunch is free for guests 60 and up.

The National Weather Service says to expect sun with a high of 98, but be sure to hold your napkins down because there's a chance for some wind gusts.

The fun is all possible in part thanks to the Simidaba Sculpture Foundation.

It all starts Friday at 9 a.m. with lunch from 11.30 to 12.30.

The Senior Center is at 6539 Adobe Road and 29 Palms.

Just a few announcements today.

We will be having a women's event on Sunday the 13th at 5 p.m. at the Senior Center.

I believe on Sunday I called it the Women's Center, but it's not.

It's the Senior Center.

It's over there by Chehalem Valley Middle School and Crater Elementary School.

It'll be a salad bar.

It could be your spam folder might just be absorbing those also because they are bulk emails.

So if you, we've sent out a few community news announcements like the South Street Sentinel, the Senior Center Newsletter, those sorts of things in the last couple of weeks.

If you haven't received those, just navigate to the town website, go to the blue community news box and re-sign up.

all right um another thing coming up is our state primary so massachusetts state primary is tuesday september 1st so that's literally next week next tuesday by the time you listen to this it'll be a couple days away um in person voting has been taking place at will be taking place at the westminster community senior center 69 west main street from 7 a.m until 8 p.m on tuesday september 1st um Early voting is happening this week at Town Hall.

So if you catch this early birds on Thursday, you can early vote in Town Hall.
