In the Marine Corps, we have a saying, Semper Fi, from the Latin words Semper Fidelis, which means always faithful.

I would liken this saying to most Vietnam veterans who were honoring their oath of allegiance to be faithful to the United States of America.

But at any rate, so Semper Fi, the Marines, a big part of my life growing up, although I did have quite a few folks who did Army National Guard as well.

Well, that, you know, helps us maybe preview an event coming up here in the Des Moines area.

Of course, Forge will be bringing a military man to come and speak.

There were a couple of attempts on me.

So you can imagine, if you're a veteran listening to this, the Marine Corps is a little bit different organization, right? Semper Fidelis, always faithful.

We never leave our dead or wounded on the battlefield.

And yet, I was left.

For me, 21 years in the Marine Corps, two tours in Vietnam, I call them-

Sem- Semper Fi.

I use it out of respect for your service." Why would I ever mind that? And in case you, in case, for, for the civilian types of people who don't know, Semper Fi is short for Semper Fidelis.

It is a Marine Corps motto that means always faithful.

So when I was in California, I, um, I was in the Marine Corps, like, I mean, right after high school, I joined-

Semper Fi.

[laughs] Semper Fi.

So I joined the Marine Corps and, uh, went to San Diego, I mean, probably the best, in my opinion, the best place you can be stationed at, second to Japan, which I ended up getting to go there.

Um, so when I, when I got out, I did five years in the Marine Corps.
