Semmelweis University

And we met Dr. Semmelweis, obviously, because that's one of the famous historical figures of hand washing and childbed fever.

So we were at Semmelweis University and did a bunch of other things.

So we were in Budapest for several days.

And then we went to Bruno to visit Gregor Mendel.

In 2012, Paul Schmidt resigned as the president of Hungary after a report was published confirming allegations that the overwhelming majority of his doctoral thesis was a word-for-word copy of someone else's book.

Semmelweis University revoked his whole degree.

And in the midst of the media frenzy about the president's plagiarism scandal, someone thought to check the former prime minister's thesis too.

And it was almost entirely plagiarized from a thesis submitted to the same university four years earlier by his own brother-in-law.

Three hospitals, two in Hungary and one in Austria, were named after Dr. Semmelweis.

And the university hospital where Semmelweis worked prior to his death would change its name from the University of Pest to Semmelweis University.

A towering plaque honoring Semmelweis was sculpted and placed in the gardens of the Vienna General Hospital.

A planet was named after Semmelweis.

Very cool.

So my, my son went to medical school in Budapest at Semmelweis university and And so we went there twice to visit them, once a couple years in and the other time for graduation.

And we went both times in December when the Christmas markets were going on.

And they just had some of the best food there, man.
