There was Jeffrey.

The photographic work was done in the darkroom at the Selma Times-Journal by a staff photographer, who was more than surprised and mystified, more than anybody else, by the strange image on the print.

The eerie, shadowy thing, whatever it is, appears to have posed for the portrait.

Soon after Jeffrey had his picture made, which is believed to be the only instance of a ghost providing a picture of himself for a writer of ghost stories, the Windhams consulted Margaret Gillis Five, Montgomery, Alabama.
