So without further ado, here is the interview that I conducted with Andrew Rawlinson.

Where are you speaking from, by the way, Andrew? I'm speaking from my home in Selkirk in the Scottish Borders.

Right.

That's not a Sunkirk accent you're speaking with, by the sound of it.

We spoke about some... major events that had happened.

And we trickled down, to use an economic term, with your illustrations, you know, that, what if you're a wee genie in Selkirk, which I love, these little narratives you do, about the impact on the Scottish borders.

During that, you made me think, I was re-listening to the early rough recording and I thought, you mentioned quite a few times when we were talking last time, you saw great parallels between the 17th century and the one we're living in now.

Yes, absolutely.

The 17th century, there are echoes of the 17th century in the world we live in today.

I think so, yes.

I don't quite know how we bring that down to the Scottish borders, in a sense, but if you do your Wee Ginny from Selkirk thing, that'll work well.

"With my dog, but that was fun." Um, but yeah, I was...

'Cause I live in Selkirk, um, in the Scottish Borders, which is extremely beautiful, and you, um, I mean, I can walk out the door here and I'm in the countryside within two minutes.

Um, so I was here, so I was really lucky.

It was a good place to be locked down.

Um, uh, they do a lot more now with A games and whatnot, but there wasn't anything like that back then, and I'd played a bit of pro rugby, and I was just desperate to do that week in, week out.

Was my scrum inconsistent? Yes, it was, but there's a huge jump from going playing for Boroughmuir against Selkirk, um, in the Scottish Prem to playing against Munster in a Heineken Cup game.

Like co- there's nothing in the middle.

Do you know what I mean? And, and don't get me wrong, I had some all right scrums against Munster, but I had some bad 'uns as well.

He bade Baliel sign a treaty ceding to him not only Berwick, but all the border shires of Scotland as far as Edinburgh.
