Segula

Iyar is Ani Hashem Rofecha.

It's a Segula after Pesach of Refuah HaNefesh, Refuah Haguf.

So we have to say it's all Nichlal in HaKadosh Baruch Hu, knowing the Yasidas.

And, um, Mimeila, even if we're not consciously aware of these things at the time, but, uh, HaKadosh Baruch Hu guides us in a path that will have many, many, many Remazim.

So basically he was meant to go to Jerusalem for some reason, but then he was there as a rabbi.

But he helped the local population with blessings in Segulot, right? And Brazilians are very superstitious.

Actually, when I went to Israel and saw the rabbi, you know, all pictures, all of these things, the Mizrahi ones, I'm like, this is Brazil.

Like, we do that all the time.

There's a mikvah in Israel.

The mikvah of Arizal says, the person dips in that mikvah, it's a segula, that person will die with teshuva.

Segula for teshuva.

Guaranteed teshuva before you die.

That's what they say.

Is that certain melachos are defined as a process, certain melachos are defined as a mo- as a momentary event.

Now afken minu v, can I do it Erev Shabbos-- No, can I do it Mitz-- Uh, can I do it before Abdulla v'chayav in Segulah? If I do the event before Shabbos is over, but its impact is later on.

And then we have to figure out, we'll-- to figure out why it should be limited only to ofer, whether it should be extended to zeraia, and why it would be limited from other melachos.

Um, but what is it? It's not really an idea of being chosen.

It's again, it's this idea of... it's called am segulah.

Segulah does not mean chosen.

Segulah means like a charm.

We call it a charm today, a lucky charm, a segulah.

A charm is more like something which attracts attention.

Now, let me share with you a fascinating Midrash regarding the reward of Shiluach Hakan.

The Midrash says that the Mitzvah of Shiluach Hakan is a Segula for having children.

The Pasuk says, "Send away the mother bird," "V'Et Habanim Tikaach Lach," "And the children you should take for yourself." Says the Midrash that when a person performs the Mitzvah of Shiluach Hakan, he will be Zocheh to children of his own.

But there's an obvious question here.

Go through it.

Oh, okay, I read it." It's, it's not a Segula.

It's not like, okay, I read a magic trick.

I learned it, I got it.

He says that all these Halakhas in the Gemara that tell us how to relate to heretics, he says there are two type of heretics.

There's hos- those heretics that have what we call a Segulah, a connection to the Jewish people And obviously you saw these pioneers.

They could have gone to London or New York or Paris.

They could have been Bundists in Vilna.
