Um, so like, yeah, you can easily see how the average person can get brainwashed by mass media.
Dylan GemelliHOST
53:52
There's a big push right now about trying to make all of these seed oils like they're being fear-mongered, and that they're so healthy for you, and that what people are saying is just a lie, and I'm curious as your thoughts on that, and I'll get into it after.
Dylan GemelliHOST
54:07
I'll retort after what you say.
Lucas AounGUEST
54:09
Well, it's funny, because I, I really wanted to make content about this about a year ago, and one of my research assistants that I have, he's, he's kinda like, he's very neutral.
Dylan GemelliHOST
55:51
Basically, the, the goal there is that label shows that it's been through their rigorous process of proving things are seed oil free.
Lucas AounGUEST
56:01
Mm.
Dylan GemelliHOST
56:01
Now, what you find is with the seed oils themselves, it's how they're made, how they're processed, the damage that it's causing, and to overlook that and to act as though that's not happening, and then to try to misconvey the information based upon the amount of money that they're making off of it, and then putting out influencers, giving them a bunch of nonsensical information to put out there that they don't even know what they're talking about, as opposed to people that I worked with that have years and mountains of studies showing the negative effects, and it just, it's so frustrating.
Dylan GemelliHOST
56:35
And I'm sure you deal with that quite often in the supplement world.
Chuck BeardsleeGUEST
41:55

Bert UsholdHOST

7 MINS LATER

Chuck BeardsleeGUEST
49:30
There's a practical challenge there.
Chuck BeardsleeGUEST
49:31
Right.
Chuck BeardsleeGUEST
49:33
So it's an interesting concept where, you know, I think seed oils are getting demonized the same way that high fructose corn syrup was getting demonized a stretch ago.
Chuck BeardsleeGUEST
49:42
That hasn't gone away, right? Still, most of the Coca-Cola in the U.S., it is made with high fructose corn syrup.
Joe PolishHOST

Heather McDonoughGUEST

And they were checking to see if the avocado oil was actually avocado oil.
Heather McDonoughGUEST
13:00
And there was a huge percentage of them that it showed that the avocado oil was adulterated and there were seed oils in there.
Heather McDonoughGUEST
13:09
um and this this matter
Jamie BelzHOST
13:11
the reason that avocado oil uh is preferred and so all of us uh health nuts went the avocado route is because saturated fats contrary to old science i said saturated fats are terrible and all the things uh but the saturated fats are better for cooking and so we know that the seed oils are really um not a space we want to play in at all whatsoever especially if they're heating those seed oils so avoid those we've had podcast episodes about that to go back and listen to but so we're like oh fantastic avocado oil is a great option this is a health food option now and so that's why we saw all this avocado oil pop up everywhere but the truth is it wasn't actually really avocado oil and like you said like 89 or 87 percent of products tested which is disgusting to me
Heather McDonoughGUEST
14:00
yeah it's it's really disheartening and I remember I it was back in 2006 when my son was born suddenly um I was kind of getting tuned into label reading a little bit and paying attention to fats.
Heather McDonoughGUEST
14:12
And it was just a little bit more in the zeitgeist to talk about fats.
Heather McDonoughGUEST
14:56
Oh, absolutely.
Heather McDonoughGUEST
14:58
And, and as I became more educated, especially after going through the NTP program, I realized that monounsaturated fats were a really great option.
