Sedna

It was such a joy to hear the deeply shamanic journey behind her latest album, My Dark Church.

In this conversation, Colette shares how a wild shamanic vision led her to meet a shark-toothed sea goddess, a goddess she later discovered was Sedna, the Inuit goddess of the sea.

This meeting became a doorway into Colette's own healing, and at 68, she has now reclaimed her inner artist.

This is a conversation about daring to step through the door before you feel ready and trusting that courage will meet you there.

I was like, not listening to myself at all.

I would play it back and listen to this incredible, very Viking like music and stuff that we were doing and none of which made the album, but it was this through line that I could, there was, it was like, they threw me a life preserver and I was holding onto it.

So I go to this astrologer just before I leave and she starts going on about, oh my God, you and the planet Sedna.

Like, I don't know what the F the planet Sedna is.

So I loved that, but also there w- there is...

I mean, I said I wasn't gonna do a story, but I'm g- this is gonna happen now, innit? So, um, one of the Inuit stories of Sedna, the goddess Sedna, is just on point.

Love that story.

I re- I wrote it in Goddess with a Thousand Faces and I loved it.
