Secrecy

Privacy can have and honest purpose.

Secrecy has a different purpose.

Secrecy is usually protecting information that would change the other person's understanding of the relationship.

And that's the line I keep coming back to.

If she knew this, would she make a different decision? If she knew this, would she still agree to the relationship as it currently exists? If she knew, the answer might be no.

Broken trust affects desire.

Secrecy affects safety.

And intimacy cannot be rebuilt properly if the wife is expected to ignore all that.

So why does intimacy feel so different after discovery? Well, before discovery, intimacy might have meant closeness.

The marriage bed is meant to be a place of honour, tenderness, faithfulness and mutual care.

Pornography dishonours that.

Secrecy dishonours that.

Pressure dishonours that.

My marriage is to be a secret one, on account of the mother and my father.

Therefore, he must be enjoined to secrecy.

That abandonment or control of fear is a key element in destroying the power of the dictators over the general population.

It is often impossible to keep the political police and intelligence agents from learning about intentions and plans.

From the perspective of the movement, secrecy is not only rooted in fear, but contributes to fear, which dampens the spirit of resistance and reduces the number of people who can participate in a given action.

It also can contribute to suspicions and accusations, often unjustified, within the movement concerning who is an informer or agent for the opponents.

Secrecy may also affect the ability of a movement to remain nonviolent.

In contrast, openness regarding intentions and plans will not only have the opposite effects, but will contribute to an image that the resistance movement is in fact extremely powerful.

You don't want people publicly dragged into a case if the grand jury ultimately decides there's not enough evidence to even charge anyone.

Secrecy also gives witnesses more room to speak freely.
