football.

Friday nights in the fall just mean more in Ohio.

Chris, I hope when we call Karan, he's going to have a Freak of the Week nominee from our game because Tristan Hughes, who Matt Lofgren was talking to us about, is absolutely doing work.

He now has a 98-yard pick six against Lakewood to put him up 35-7.

St. Ignatius on their way back, making waves under Tom Kaufman, who comes from Gilmore.

He was actually at Marietta College for one year last year.

Comes back to Northeast Ohio high school football, leading St. Ignatius.

They come in at 2-1.

And then Todd Richards is going to join us at 930.

We're going to talk a lot of high school football, college football, War of the Will today.

You know, NFL, big weekend this weekend, opening weekend, if you will.

So we'll talk all about it.

Let's start with some high school football and give you some scores from last night.

First one, we'll start in Sykeston.

It was Sykeston feeling good.

and living in a small town when it rains a lot, I played a lot of card games by myself and would dream up, it was kind of almost dream up like little leagues and things like that.

It was always football leagues, which is why I'm always gravitated towards football, high school and college and professional, and I would use decks of cards and draw out on pieces of paper leagues of like random individuals, sometimes fake teams, sometimes real teams, and I would simulate a season with a deck of cards, and I would write down all the numbers and and put together this fictional season in my head.

And that was how I would entertain myself.

It was one of those things to where, yeah, I remember what that was like, but that core memory for me... was maybe nine years old, 10 years old.

I couldn't, I wouldn't know how to fix it.

And luckily my dad, one of his first jobs out of high school was a pinball.

He repaired two things, pinball machines and cigarette machines.

And I asked him a year ago, like, could you still open it? And he said, I'm sure it's muscle memory.

We had BBs, BB guns.

So I want to go back in time a little bit.

One of the questions Mr. Picciuto asked me to ask you, and he's always wanted to know, is what type of high school student was Jimmy DiResta?

That's funny.

in an area, you know, you always find out about a teacher and a kid like dating after.

You know, they get out of high school.

Yep, we had one of those.

It always happens.

No. I've done online, too.

I did only for a year, though.

But if you go to online school before your junior year of high school, that's not the answer.

because now you end up as a tablet kid and it's just weird.

Second...

I want to get y'all's input on what the Miami Hurricanes did last night against that high school team.

Brandy, there was a high school team, but the Canes starters played less than a half total, and they still put up 856 with true freshmen.

I'd just like to get y'all's input on that.

What's up? So I wanted to shout out the Smyrna High School Bulldogs because they beat number one in Tennessee, Oakland, last Friday night.

How did you find Dort? How did Dort find you? Take me through the recruiting process.

Yeah, so when I was in high school, junior or senior in high school, I decided I want to play college football.

And I knew I could play at the NAIA level.

And that's where I kind of felt like that would be the best fit for me.

And so for those couple reasons, I decided to come here.

Criminal justice major, was that what you entered as immediately? Did you ever have to make a decision, or was that what you wanted right from the start?

Um, come out, uh, and like senior year of high school, I didn't really know what I wanted to do.

Took a class the spring semester and it was criminal justice and I enjoyed it.
