Dr. Nichola's Second Opinion.
Nichola ConlonGUEST

Hello, and welcome back to Second Opinion.
Nichola ConlonGUEST
0:35
I'm Dr. Nichola Conlon, and today we are gonna talk about something that I think nearly all of us have experienced at some point, and that is brain fog.
Nichola ConlonGUEST
0:44
You know, that kind of feeling where you maybe walk into a room or you go to the supermarket and you completely forget why you're there.

7 MINS LATER

Nichola ConlonGUEST
7:39
It could be our hormones, our food, our inflammation, and sometimes it can be several of those things all compounding together at exactly the same time.
Nichola ConlonGUEST
7:47
But the good news is, in many cases, once you understand what is causing it in your life and what may be driving it, there are certainly practical things that you can do to help by addressing those underlying issues.
Jimmy CarrSOUNDBITE_SPEAKER

Paul ScheerHOST

I actually need some audience participation.
Mikey APANELIST
57:10
What do you have?
TaylorPANELIST
57:11
So I was thinking about this when I was watching, uh, a report earlier, Jayden Daniels a- and Jaxson Dart, where they're getting second opinions on, on if they need surgeries or not.
Mikey APANELIST
57:21
Yeah.
TaylorPANELIST
57:22
How do you guys feel about second opinions? Because it just feels like the second opinion is you just want the doctor to tell you what you want to hear.
Mikey APANELIST
57:29
Yeah.
TaylorPANELIST
57:29
No, I'm a big fan of second opinions-
Mikey APANELIST
57:31
Of course you are.
Mikey APANELIST
57:31
[laughs]
Al DukesHOST
8:46
I got something for you, Jerry.
Al DukesHOST
8:47
So this is quite common, but this Jaden Daniels, he's getting a second opinion.
Al DukesHOST
8:52
I don't understand second opinions in medical.
Al DukesHOST
8:55
We should know what's wrong with...
Al DukesHOST
8:57
Here's an x-ray.
Al DukesHOST
8:58
This is what's wrong.
Al DukesHOST
9:00
That's pretty black and white.
Al DukesHOST
9:01
But how are there second opinions on things?
MelissaGUEST
39:28
My current doctor literally said, that he does not know what to do.
MelissaGUEST
39:33
He referred me for second opinions.
MelissaGUEST
39:35
I have the utmost respect for him and not just because of my IVF results, because of his honesty.
MelissaGUEST
39:42
In my experience, and it shouldn't be this way, but that is unique.

14 MINS LATER

MelissaGUEST
53:21
Yeah.
MelissaGUEST
53:22
What I'll say is like, we've talked about the positive aspects of not having tubes.
MelissaGUEST
53:27
The worst part, and it's not even close, is like when you were like now, when we're waiting for second opinions and whatever, I know most people don't know, but I know beyond a shadow of a doubt that I'm not going to wake up after like my cycle and take a pregnancy test and it's going to be positive.
MelissaGUEST
53:44
That's right.
Steve BartleyGUEST
27:56
That's the only way I could describe it.
Steve BartleyGUEST
27:58
And that made me reach out to another well-known urologist for a second opinion, and that turned out to be transformative for me.
Melissa Hadley BarrettHOST
28:08
So what happened then when you reached out?
Steve BartleyGUEST
28:11
Well, I reached out and I said, "Look, these, these are the circumstances that are happening." Um, I'd also been told by someone at some stage that I'd be impotent after the, um, the radiation, which was the opposite of what the radiation oncologist sort of implied to me.
Rob CesterninoHOST
25:28
Next up.
Av SenenskyGUEST
25:28
Next, Second Opinion on NBC, in which Dr. Allison Reed, one of Boston's most celebrated cardiothoracic surgeons, is fired when a patient dies on her operating table and banned from the practice of medicine.
Av SenenskyGUEST
25:46
Because her medical credentials and reputation are still intact, she gets a job as a consultant leading an experimental diagnostic review team that gets called in only after other doctors have run out of ideas.
Rob CesterninoHOST
25:57
Hmm.
Av SenenskyGUEST
28:42
Okay.
Av SenenskyGUEST
28:44
Um, yeah, I, I, I would agree with that, I think.
Av SenenskyGUEST
28:46
[sighs] Second Opinion, the Carla Ju- Gugino, is that how you say it? Gugino show.
Rob CesterninoHOST
28:52
Mm-hmm.
Marcus TankardGUEST
17:39
Yeah
KateHOST
17:39
... because it is so important to get those second opinions, to take a beat and think about what your journey's going to look like.
KateHOST
17:48

KateHOST
17:50

LauraHOST
11:16

LauraHOST
11:22
And I was already pretty exhausted just from the past two months that I was like, you know what? I'm just going to take a little break.

LauraHOST
22:10
so that is my recap of my second trimester there was mostly highs a couple lows in there but at the end of the day i wouldn't say that i'm thankful that my low-lying placenta diagnosis happened to me but at the same time i do feel very lucky to be in a position where i have this platform where i can educate women around the benefits of exercise and pregnancy even when something like this happens really making sure that you're advocating for yourself you're getting a second opinion and you're making sure that you're feeling encouraged to move your body and you feel like you have the resources to be able to do so in a way that helps you feel comfortable that helps you feel confident to take care of yourself and your body during such an important time in your life So go ahead and end this episode here.
