Second death

And in Revelation 20, 14, it reads this way, Then death and Hades were cast into the lake of fire.

This is the second death.

And including verse 10, it goes on to read, The devil who deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are.

And...

They will be tormented day and night, forever and ever." Here, dear friends, the Bible teaches that there is a second death.

And what's the second death? As we just read, it's described as a lake of fire.

This is the second death, and we have to ask what's going to happen to those who were deceived by the devil and therefore judged guilty of sin on the day of judgment? The Bible says that they will be thrown into that lake of fire.

And what will happen? They will be tormented.

And then it says in verse 14 that death and hell or death and Hades were cast into the lake of fire, a lake of fire and brimstone, eternal hell.

This is the second death.

So they've already died in the natural, but now this is the second death.

Verse 15, and anyone who was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.

So this is called the great white throne judgment of God.

But their phenomenal suffering does eventually come to an end when their affective senses and their body deteriorates.

And that's what I'm calling the second death.

So some could suffer longer than others.

Absolutely.

Well, it's a special body in the case of the righteous.

But I also think this happens with the damned, right? Resurrection of the wicked, right? But there's a lot of interesting clues in the Bible which suggests that the bodies of the wicked are not incorruptible like the bodies of the righteous are.

And so if the bodies of the wicked are corruptible, then that would just be literally a second death.

The next time the body is separated from the soul in the case of a corruptible resurrected body would be a second death, literally speaking.

He who has an ear, verse 11, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.

He who overcomes will not be hurt at all by the second death.

Let's start with the name Smyrna.

Today, the ancient ruins of Smyrna can be found in the country of Turkey amidst the prosperous port city of Izmir, modern day.

I'm going to end the letter with what Jesus has John write in verse 11 about the overcomers.

Interesting, curious.

Second death, don't worry about it.

Not a problem.

They're going to remember a false vision.

I'm gonna get the second death real fucking fast.

[laughs]

Okay, okay, okay.

If Miguel dies in the world of the dead, what happens? [laughs]

I think it's just implied that he dies in real life, but-

Does he die the second death because he's becoming bone slowly?

No, I don't think so.

Whoever is victorious, because remember it's talking about being persecuted and being imprisoned for Jesus.

Whoever is victorious in that will not be harmed by the second death.

Wow, what is a second death? Don't we just die once? And like I've always said, like scripture interprets scripture.

Is there a place in scripture that actually defines what the second death is? Revelation 20 in the same book, verse 14.

Then death and the grave were thrown into the lake of fire.

This lake of fire is the second death.

You can't get more clear than that.

The Bible actually says this is what the second death is.

So there may have been a little bit of hesitancy, oh, are we going to be saved or aren't we? Potentially we're destroyed and potentially we're in great joy on that day, but there was no need to have that hesitation.

because they were delivered and then the next day in Shushan the palace Esther asks for repeat and it's like it's the first resurrection and the second death those that are saved in the first resurrection the second death has no power And so we likewise, depending on how time goes, we might read that chapter in Revelation where it refers to the second death and those that are part of the first resurrection, the second death has no power.

Back to chapter 4.

And this was back at a time when Esther was afraid to go before the king and ask for help for her people.

Yes, verse 11.

Revelation 2 verse 11 says, He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.

He that overcomes shall not be hurt of the second death.

Just like in the book of Esther.
