Okay, so today's challenge is what food would Gambit make for Sebastian Shaw? Gilly, do you want to go first or second? I'll go second.

What's your food? What's Gambit making for Sebastian Shaw?

All right, so if we know anything from Krakoa, it is that Sebastian Shaw loves his aged whiskeys.

um so gambit is actually going to be uh serenading it or serenading jesus um uh you know what i mean uh cooking the steak and uh some of that whiskey marinating and then it's also marinating thank you thank you but i like serenading too because he's singing to it before uh what's it called marinating it yeah um uh So he just cooks the steak that way.

Also with some greens and...

And at the same time, there is this new player on the board, Emma Frost.

We, at this time in the comics, you know of the Hellfire Club, run by Sebastian Shaw, a lot of these other characters in this secret society.

Emma Frost is part of the Secret Society as the White Queen.

She opens up her own school as well and also tries to recruit Kitty to her team.

Again, I like the finger thing.

I think it looks good and reminds me a little bit of what they did with Sebastian Shaw because his powers are not very visual, not very visually interesting.

So they try and do this kind of you know wobbly hand thing you know we can condense the power of something and then absorb it you know there's there's something to that and i get that but i i i don't she doesn't need to be a telekinetic as well it just seems to be like you've got psychic powers you can move things not necessarily like there's telepathy and there's telekinesis there's psychokinetic powers blah blah blah blah i can go on all day but it's one of these things that kind of It drives me a bit mad sometimes that people confuse the two.

There's various pet peeves I have, like Cyclops' optic blasts are not laser, but a lot of the times in the comics they're treated like a laser bouncing on mirrors.

Yeah, that was one of the most satisfying things about the film X-Men First Class, where Kevin Bacon played, you know, what he had been a Nazi officer.

Yeah, his version of Sebastian Shaw.

Yeah.

Right.

I also do want to point out Kevin Bacon is our number one villain in this film.

He is playing the leader of the Hellfire Club, Sebastian Shaw.

Now, before we jump into what I've got planned for today, I do want to go over one quick fun fact about this film.

Then I'm going to take you guys all through just the story of the movie, point out all of the main story beats.

And the banker wasn't able to tell him where the Nazi scientist was, but he was able to tell him where some of his like most trusted cronies are.

And they are currently in Argentina.

And we learned that his name is Sebastian Shaw.

and we flip over to the united states and this is where we are introduced to the character of moira mctaggart who at this point in the story is a cia agent who is investigating the hellfire club they are outside of a casino in las vegas She sees like a colonel going into this club as well as like mafiosos and senators and all kinds of like prominent people are going into this casino.

She's like, "Yeah, you know." Um, Magneto's like, "Yeah, I've considered it myself, you know.

It's, it's not a bad idea." And Sebastian just hits him with, "So you're s- so you're stepping down." And he's like, "No, no, no, no, no.

I didn't say that.

I'll follow my heart."

[laughs]

Yeah.

Uh, so then we're onto Sebastian Shaw.

Uh, Mystique, of course, also spoke to him.

a very very tall redheaded actress yeah

yes she is she is um but i i have to say mike when it comes to x-men first class this is still a really good movie and what i find interesting about it though is It's missing the big villain, in my opinion, like Sebastian Shaw is cool.

And as I'm watching the movie, I'm like, yeah, I remember Kevin Bacon being like a really interesting villain in a different sort of way, more subdued way than you would see Magneto being in a lot of the X-Men movies or the Sentinels or, you know, whatever they're doing.

and then i was like thinking to myself i'm like well this movie it it's not like it didn't really need that villain because it's showing us the creation of our villain and i sort of like i was saying on our last episode about um the mcafree's and how they set the tone about who these two kids are at the very beginning so we know which direction they're going in And then as I'm watching this, I'm like, this is the same same thing.

So I... you know, it might not have the classic X-Men and it might not have some of the awesome battles that we're used to seeing, uh, throughout X-Men or one-on-one fight scenes and stuff like that.

It has them.

Uh, it doesn't have like the marquee billing, I guess, because Sebastian Shaw is never going to live up to the villains that we're used to seeing Magneto being top dog, but what they were able to do to make this, this origin story for these two, I think they did, uh, A great job, which is the exact opposite of the job they did for Wolverine's origin movie.

Yeah, yeah.

First Hellfire Club, which is a good one.

And then issue 130 is first Dazzler and first Sebastian Shaw.

Ooh, and Jean Grey becomes the Black Queen of the Hellfire Club.

That's cool.
