Where or how did you get to where you've gotten? So where did you grow up? And then what were some of the inspirations and who are some of the people who inspired you? How did Cedric Nash become Cedric Nash?

Yeah, you know, I grew up in a little town called Seaside, California.

And Seaside's an interesting town because there's a lot of retired military folks there.

But it was right next to an area called Carmel Valley, Pebble Beach, where I was born in Carmel.

Now, Carmel was a completely different thing.

A lot of very wealthy folks lived there.

A lot of folks from San Francisco, the elites from San Francisco had vacation homes there on the golf course of Pebble Beach.

And Seaside was a town of retired military African-Americans who ended up settling there like my dad did.

He runs for president in 2008, in his late 70s, and again for the 2020 nomination at 88 years old, with a campaign staffed by teenagers.

He dies on June 26, 2021, in Seaside, California, three days before the 50th anniversary of the night in the hearing room.

Ten years before that, on June 29, 2011, the National Archives had released the full study, all 7,000 pages.

The archives compared the new release to Beacon's edition, the only complete one ever printed, and found 2,384 pages that had never been public.

... um, I then had a one-week leave, which meant that I got to go home.

And then, uh, you know, and then I had to ship out to the Presidio of Monterey, and my barracks were originally at Fort Ord, California, Seaside.

But Fort Ord was on the base realignment and closure committee, and so now Fort Ord is known as UCál Monterey Bay.

But anyways, when I was there back in 1993, um, I just absolutely fell in love with the Monterey Bay where I did my schooling at the Defense Language Institute Foreign Language Center, Presidio of Monterey.
