Matthew Nyes gets a lot of rope, but he's been a bit of a ghost the last couple games after a strong start.
O
8:25Owen AraceGUEST
Sean Monahan looks like his legs have gone and his arms have gone.
O
8:32Owen AraceGUEST
Whatever else has been injured all these years.
O
8:34Owen AraceGUEST
There's a lot of underperformance.
32 MINS LATER
T
40:14Timothy AraceGUEST
But the problem is he's just, I think it's limited their offensive ability.
T
40:19Timothy AraceGUEST
and combined with, you know, the personnel decisions, you know, the Marchenko trade, even trading someone like Chinnikov, not utilizing Voronkov well at all, scratching him, they're probably going to trade him, you know.
T
40:33Timothy AraceGUEST
That second line has just been, whatever line Monahan centered for the last, like, however many games has really been bad.
T
40:41Timothy AraceGUEST
And, like, I just, I don't see how bonus is going to change his system or his philosophy to give them more, to increase the offensive ceiling enough to where they can go on a win streak that isn't shooting
Ep. 64: Asleep at Wheel, Heading for a Cliff
A
10:53AnthonyHOST
I mean, let's hypothesize here a little bit.
A
10:58AnthonyHOST
If, if Wierenski had three goals instead of zero, if Fantilli had four instead of two, if Garland had one or two, if Monahan and Nachushkin had a couple each, I think we'd be talking about a different situation now.
A
11:19AnthonyHOST
With those players scoring, we're looking at a 5-3 record instead of a 3-5 record, if you ask me.
A
11:27AnthonyHOST
And this is a cap team, by the way.
10 MINS LATER
A
21:20AnthonyHOST
So in summary, a proposed trade would be Zach Wierenski and Conor Garland for a bad contract, short bad contract, two prospects, and a number one draft pick.
A
21:34AnthonyHOST
Something like that.
A
21:37AnthonyHOST
What else you go to Sean Monahan? He seems like a, a smart, reasonable guy.
A
21:45AnthonyHOST
Surely he sees that this team is not going anywhere and he's getting older.

S
21:32Scott LaughlinHOST
For Celebrini, he scores his fourth overtime goal.
S
21:36Scott LaughlinHOST
That ties Ilya Kovalchuk and the Moose Sean Monahan for the most by an NHL player 20 years or younger.
S
21:42Scott LaughlinHOST
So he continues to get it done, and he continues to get it done against the Canadians as well.
S
21:46Scott LaughlinHOST
Three or more points for the third straight game against Montreal, dating back to last season.
This could be Calgary’s next BIG move…
M
7:10Mark GriffithHOST
So maybe you could go even further with assets being thrown around that they can later use.
M
7:14Mark GriffithHOST
And maybe we help them out with their money a little bit or something like we did with Sean Monahan, but essentially why this works for Montreal and their cap.
M
7:21Mark GriffithHOST
So it'd be 3.35 mil out, but just bringing in 2.75 mil in.
M
7:25Mark GriffithHOST
For us, we have loads of cap space.
The Bright Side of 7 Straight Losses | Canucks After Dark
P
5:56ParkerHOST
It's not like two teams that are like, oh, yeah, we're so much better than you guys.
P
5:59ParkerHOST
Yeah, we might finish like six points higher at the end of the season.
C
6:02ClayHOST
right
P
6:02ParkerHOST
and like but it's not you know it's there's a very real chance that um you know both teams have a three in the standings they're like 30 31 32 right somewhere in there i would not be too shocked by that unless like levy mariline and continues this amazing run the rest of the season but i have my doubts about
C
6:21ClayHOST
that yeah no that's fair that's totally fair so yeah yeah interesting stuff but about the being favorites and i like what you said about being upset not being upset um yeah i don't want to jump the gun here no let's maybe let's go at least cursory look through the games then i'll ask you what i was going to ask you for sure for sure um yeah anything so
P
6:42ParkerHOST
yeah i mean we there was the islanders game um you know this one again they made it they made this one interesting right um and this is all like honestly all three of the games this week were interesting the cox got outplayed fairly handily in all three of them right especially if you just look at the shot counters 38 26 39 18 35 14. so 35 plus shots against every single game that's probably not something a coach loves to see yeah but Again, I'm not super surprised with the lineup the Canucks are trotting out there.
P
9:24ParkerHOST
And I think he was fine.
P
9:26ParkerHOST
Had a couple actually really good saves.
BLUE JACKETS BEAT PITTSBURGH 3-2, Thoughts on Matthew Knies so far this season, And so much more.
K
64:08KevinHOST
It's there.
K
64:08KevinHOST
And then, obviously, the veterans, like a Charlie Coyle, a Zach Wierenski, a Nachushkin, a Sean Monahan, so it's there.
K
64:15KevinHOST
And then you see him make the progress going from... 58 points to 66 points to 89 points to 92 points.
K
64:23KevinHOST
So you see it's there.
Ep. 63: Not Sinking Yet, But Garland is an Anchor
A
30:15AnthonyHOST
If I was putting up points, our record, our team's record would be better.
A
30:20AnthonyHOST
We might have made the playoffs if me and Sean Monahan, if we had been playing how we should have been playing.
A
30:31AnthonyHOST
So I felt really bad.
A
30:33AnthonyHOST
But something was just off last season.
Ryan Pinder on Suniev and Parekh! Brett Sutter on Zary!
R
6:28Ryan PinderGUEST
You'd love to see it go that way, but we see all the time guys hit a rookie wall, where it's like, you might just need a reset.
R
6:35Ryan PinderGUEST
I think about Sean Monahan's rookie year.
R
6:37Ryan PinderGUEST
I think about a lot of first-year players that are very good and turn into great players.
R
6:41Ryan PinderGUEST
They still sometimes need a reset.
