London is back on the fashion map.

What happened? Alexander McQueen, still finding its footing under creative director Sean McGirr, had its first show in London since 2001.

Meanwhile, Christopher Kane, who lit up London fashion with neon designs in the late 2000s before closing his namesake line in 2023, returned with a promising first collection for Mulberry.

What to make of it? London has long had a reputation as a city for edgy, independent designers without much commercial impact, but its fashion week could reassess itself as more than just a stepping stone to Paris if these comebacks prove successful.

Uh, anyway, Veronica Leone is out at Calvin Klein.

Sean McGirr is out at McQueen.

What do I think? Well, what I think is that neither of these collections were very good, and so these people had to leave.

Why they weren't good, I guess, is the part that's up for debate.

Mm-hmm.

I feel like if anyone is probably, like, these guys are better, like, choice than, um, Sean McGirr and McQueen.

Mm-hmm.

They can obviously design.

So, I hope we get this on a good celeb soon.

Yeah, and I think Sarah Burton's tenure at McQueen made it more of a red carpet staple, and I think the tension that Sean McGirr, given the criticism, he just needs to pick a side, which is, are you catering to the street style client, or are you making pieces that Cate Blanchett is gonna wear on the red carpet? 'Cause right now it's just, it's both simultaneously, and I think that's what's not working.

It's both, but, like, neither.
