Sean Durzi

20-year-old center, has a lefty shot.

And for anybody that needs a refresher, the full details of the Vincent Trocheck trade between the Rangers and Utah, Trocheck goes to Utah in exchange for Sean Durzi, Cole Baudouin, and a third-round pick in next year's draft.

And I've said this multiple times on here, but this was the move this off-season that I think truly split the Ranger fan base in half as much or more than anything else that they did.

I, I think for the most part, fans are, you know, at least somewhat happy with the things that the Rangers did this off-season, but I know this one was, uh, obviously very divisive among Ranger fans.

It's not ancient, but if you hang onto Trocheck and you just keep hanging onto him, and you just keep kicking that can down the road, I do think you're gonna end up trading him for probably less than you could've gotten right now.

This is a really nice, uh, return package for Vincent Trocheck, at least in my very humble opinion.

Sean Durzi is a guy that widely expected to play in the top four with the Rangers, puck-moving defenseman, guy that plays with some edge out there as well, so I, I think Ranger fans are gonna like him.

Cole Baudouin, I mean, he's not ready for the NHL yet, or at least it doesn't seem that way, but this to me is the player in this dra- i- in this trade that has the highest ceiling.

Mm-hmm.

But it's tough to disagree with the fact that they got better, right? Like, they-- What, were they to replace Will Borgen on the blue line with adding Durzi and Marcus Pettersson.

They add Dorofeev and Bjugstad up front.

They subtract Trocheck as well.

They needed an entire second pair, and they, they got one.

Mm-hmm.

And they-- I like that there's an emphasis on offense with Durzi and defense with Pettersson, and I think that'll add some balance to the top four.

And getting a full year of Fox and Shesterkin, and I think Laf- Lafreniere was unbelievable.

Sorry to throw this at you, but I like the defense they picked up.

Um, Sean Durzi's the guy-

... that I, I'm, like, y- you know, in, in the exit interviews for the Rangers, they talked a lot about... or Mike Sullivan talked a lot about the D not really being able to kinda connect with, with the forwards, right? They weren't, like, a five-man unit.

Um, and he kinda said as much, is that they needed a little bit more...

they just needed better transition from the back end.

And you go out and get Marcus Pettersson, you go out and get Sean Durzi, uh, that, that kinda, that makes a lot of sense to me.

Sean Durzi in particular, I think, is a, is a piece that can really help this team offensively at five on five.

A huge swap ahead of the draft.

He, Marcus Pettersson, Sean Durzi, Yunis Corposalo, and they drafted Albert Smits, who will be pushing for one of these six defensive spots at camp.

Departures, Bill Borgen, Vinny Trocheck, and Jonathan Quick is finally done.

Yeah, I don't know what to make of this team.

Yaroslav Melash, if he's gonna be that final fourth-line right wing, he hasn't been there the whole season, so there's plenty of newness to go around, and that's just on the forward group.

Gavrikov and Fox have a, a year of familiarity with each other, but then you've got Pettersson and Durzi, newbie, newbie.

Schneider is a returnee.

Likely Matthew Robertson, pretty much the full season, but it could be Albert Smits, newbie, youngster.

Tolvanen, who hits and blocks shots and is looking to have a little bit of a, a jump offensively.

Veleno, who brings speed.

Durzi and Pettersson, who move the puck really well on defense.

Like, there's good things happening.

They bring in, or I should say they, uh, trade out forward JJ Peterka.

Also Sean Durzi, a defenseman, is gone, but they bring in Vincent Trocheck and Anders Lee, some, uh, veteran guys to, uh, provide hopefully some more postseason experience and things like that.

Uh, those are certainly the most notable moves.

How do you look back at the off-season it was for Utah?

Getting Marino locked in and getting him healthy, which they did last year, is huge.

And so getting him inked and, and now they have that s- And that's one of the reasons why they were able to let go of Durzi, talking about that earlier.

You're able to let go of a Sean Durzi because you believe in and are, are now committed to John Marino and what he brings to the table.

But, I mean, Marino is just an excellent steadying, calming presence back there.

Loved that.

They brought in Durzi when they lost Trocheck.

I like him as a defenseman.

Marcus Pettersson, who Mike Sullivan knows very well from the Pittsburgh Penguins days.

... breaking up, breaking up plays, always has good gaps.

Like, he's a perfect complement to Adam Fox if he's getting caught up in the rush or w- or whatever ends up happening with him to take his risks offensively.

Um, I love that Durzi.

Um, maybe a little bit undersized, but he plays bigger than he is.
