Scudetto

They're normally, you know, you see them playing for Barca, Real Madrid, the complete clubs that weren't kind of in the position that Milan were in.

And yet here he is delivering a Scudetto.

And it's like you'd seen it kind of clicking before and they just all kind of come together in that season.

And he was so good.

You know, there was times when he was perhaps in the discussion for being a top-five left winger in the world, maybe.

But I don't think anybody ever quite had him right in the upper echelons of, as I say, world-class players.

But really looking back, and I remember thinking similar at the time, about how out of all of the stars of this team, if you go through the starting line-up of the team that won the Scudetto, we've got Manian, the new starting goalkeeper, would become France's number one.

He was just brilliant.

It was a wild weekend in Serie A as Roma, Inter Milan and Lazio all scored last-minute winners to pull into a three-way tie for first place.

At the San Siro, the match between Inter and Napoli, who combined have won five of the last six Scudetti, was epic.

It was goalless at the half, but Napoli jumped out to a 2-0 lead early in the second before Inter roared back, scoring three unanswered goals.

The third, a Lautaro Martinez jab coming off a cross from former Liverpool man Curtis Jones.

And like we're, we're champions 18.

Now we want to be fighting Inter for the Scudetto.

I just don't know that this guy's able to do it for us.

But Valerdi and Molina were positive influences.

I'm not saying, oh, we're going to win the league because we lost these two games, but I'm just saying nothing is decided yet.

And losing two games in the first three doesn't mean that you're not going to finish in the top four or challenge for Scudetto.

So, yeah, I like to look at it more like that.

I remember before the season started, Allegri said that for him, he doesn't really consider the season to really begin until after the first international break.

It's a league that's tough to be a starting defender in for a big team.

He's never started for Napoli before.

When he was with us the year we won the Scudetto, I don't think he even played a meaningful maybe five minutes or something.

That's about it.

He, you know, he scored six goals.

He won the Scudetto, et cetera, et cetera.

And then as, um, soccer become, became more and more mainstream, TSN had a show called Soccer Saturday.

Uh, it was hosted by Graham Legett, and they would show a lot of the EPL highlights.

... like Roma, like a lot of my friends are Roma fans, and they would lose points to small teams all the time.

Yeah.

And that's what hurts them in their Scudetto runs or, or their Champions League runs, right?
