The WIP limit's primary function is to make these bottlenecks painfully obvious so they can be resolved.

Another common confusion point tested on the exam is the difference between Kanban and Scrum.

Remember, Scrum operates in fixed-length iterations called sprints.

Kanban is focused on continuous flow and does not have prescribed iterations or roles like a Scrum Master.

A question might describe a team using a board and delivering continuously and ask you to identify the methodology.

If there are no sprints, it's Kanban.

So to answer your question about the utopia, I think for most of the organizations, it's definitely utopia.

But then if we think of models, any kind of model, we've had Scrum as a model.

We've been implementing DevOps practices.

Let's take Safe as an example as well.

We affectionately refer to AI as the intern because it's quite capable of doing many things, but it doesn't quite have the expertise, um, to make the hard decisions.

And, um, so figuring out what does that look like? How do we shift our ways of working? One of the things we're doing right now is we're transitioning away from Scrum to Kanban because that's-

Hmm

... more conducive to an AI native working speed, especially when you can have multiple agents working on multiple repos simultaneously.

But-

Yeah, yeah

... working in tech for the last decade, everything's obviously been very Scrum heavy.

And even though a sprint is traditionally two weeks, in the era of AI native, that's a long time.

But the thing is agile was never, in my view, the one to get the blame.

Neither was Scrum or any of that.

There's always how we did it because it's the same.

There was already a lack of strategy.

It's always good to take a jump once in a while.

And AI might give us that power.

And then he mentioned Scrum, which I usually associate with software engineers.

Right, but it applies perfectly here.

Scrum is about flexibility.

Instead of making a rigid, year-long plan, you work in one- to four-week sprints.

You test ideas quickly, gather feedback, and adjust.
