All right, what do you think of this program, Patricia? Do you think this is a good idea? I'm going to get to the negative stuff in a minute, but let's talk about some positive stuff.

Scottsdale Community College is trying to close the gap and get teachers employed and get more teachers in the classroom.

So I'm just going to read a part of this.

As Arizona classrooms go unfilled, the Scottsdale Community College program is betting that pilots, paraeducators, and recent graduates with the right support can become teachers who stay in the classroom.

So, The STEP program, short for Scottsdale Teacher Education Partnership, offers a one-year pathway to a teaching certification for people who already hold a bachelor's degree.

I love it.

So if you're in one of those areas right now where it's hard to find a job, you got an education, but whatever's going on, it's not helping right now.

It is an intensive 12-month program at Scottsdale Community College.

Now, I actually know a fun backstory on this.

So Scottsdale Community College fighting artichokes.

It started out, they didn't want sports teams originally, which, by the way, since then, football's been taken away from the community colleges in Arizona completely.

They struggled to recruit offensive and defensive linemen.

One of the defensive linemen that I played against at Scottsdale Community College in 2004 ended up at U of A, and he was actually a pretty, gosh dang good player.

But, like, he wasn't a...

He wasn't like an upper echelon Pac-10 player, but he was a middle-tier Pac-10 player, and that's why he got recruited.

And I was like, well, I just want to cook.

And then I found out that Scottsdale community college had a culinary school.

So I was like, oh shit, I don't want to spend 30 grand on culinary school.

Like I, I love it, but like, I'm not going to do that.

I'm already cooking at a pretty decent level.

I was like, I don't need this, but I needed to go to culinary school.

So I ended up going to Scottsdale community college culinary school.

It was like a eight month program.

Yeah.

That's what my youngest did.

And my older two played football and my oldest played football at Scottsdale Community and had a great experience.

Mm hmm.

Just wasn't quite big enough to move to D1.

Yavapai women's soccer is now 1-2 this season.

They are at Scottsdale Community College on Monday, August 31.

The home match for Yavapai men's soccer against Pima Community College on the same day was cancelled due to lightning.

Their next match is at home against Phoenix College on Tuesday, September 1.
