So we then discovered that he had given a blood transfusion, so we then got the warrant to go to the Scottish Blood Transfusion Service and to get his sample of, 'cause they retain his sample of blood as well as the, as well as the pints that he, so there's a sample, uh, is kept for that for audit purposes.

So we went to, uh, Wishaw, which is not far from Glasgow in, in, in Scotland, where the Scottish Blood Transfusion are based at that time, and we got a sample of his blood which we were then able to get his DNA from, which was then, then became relevant in the case further down the line.

So that was the first time that had ever happened in Scottish criminal history as well.
