And according to a fellow over at the Heritage Foundation, we may have gotten a little carried away with that whole independence thing.

His name is Scott Yenor.

And in July, Heritage published his report arguing that Title IX, the landmark law prohibiting sex discrimination in education, has become an instrument of what he calls feminist social engineering.

See, apparently giving women more opportunities to compete in athletics isn't simply giving them opportunities.

But there's a hell of a difference between respecting those choices and structuring public policy around the notion that They're the choices women ought to make.

And there's an even bigger difference between giving somebody an opportunity and trying to determine what kind of person that opportunity might turn them into.

So today we're going to examine what Scott Yenor actually wrote, why the Heritage Foundation published it, and why a debate supposedly about college athletics has so much to say about the kind of women we're apparently supposed to have in America.
