GaryHOST
99:28
Okay, that's new because they were probably part of the 29-man roster.
CodyHOST
99:32
And then the players that have been placed on waivers on purpose of assignment to Ontario was Taylor Ward and Scott Perunovich.
speaker_0NARRATOR
99:41
Okay.
CodyHOST
99:42
And the following player has been recalled from Ontario, Kirill Karasanov.
Eddie GarciaHOST
17:18
As far as the defensemen, nine defensemen still on the roster.
Eddie GarciaHOST
17:22
Uh, Scott Perunovich is one of them.
Eddie GarciaHOST
17:25
Eric Gustafsson is the other.
Eddie GarciaHOST
17:26
And Otto Soleen listed on the current roster, but he is injured.
Eddie GarciaHOST
17:30
Uh, Soleen will be going back to the Ontario Reign at some point.
Eddie GarciaHOST
17:33
Uh, I do not see Scott Perunovich beating out Eric Gustafsson just based on what I've seen in the preseason.
Eddie GarciaHOST
17:40
Uh, so I believe Eric Gustafsson, and been saying this all along, will be the seventh defenseman for the LA Kings.
Eddie GarciaHOST
17:46
He will make the roster.
Jesse CohenHOST
11:52
There's a thing called season opening injured reserve, where if you don't have any NHL experience and you are injured in camp, you're placed on SOIR And you sort of stay there until you're healthy, 'cause you can't assign players to the minors, uh, when they are injured.
Jesse CohenHOST
12:09
So anyway, the end result of all of that is that, um, the Kings presently have three goaltenders at camp, Kemper, Forsberg, and Portillo, eight defensemen, Dumoulin, Cece, Edmundson, Perunovich, Doughty, Anderson, Gustafsson, and Clark.
Jesse CohenHOST
12:26
It's nine, but I'm leaving Salin off that list.
Jesse CohenHOST
12:30
And, uh, they will have to...
Jesse CohenHOST
12:44
I would anticipate them carrying seven.
Jesse CohenHOST
12:47
The assumption has been, at least by me, that it would be Gustafsson.
Jesse CohenHOST
12:51
Um, Perunovich would be in contention for that eighth spot.
Jesse CohenHOST
12:55
He was competing with Willy, Kirsanov, and Booth.
Eddie GarciaHOST
2:15
Lane Pedersen was the fourth line center alongside Taylor Ward and Martin Chromiak.
Eddie GarciaHOST
2:20
The defensive pairings were new Kings captain Drew Doughty along with Brian Dumoulin, Angus Booth and Scott Perunovich, and Kirill Keshtanov with Erik Gustafsson.
Eddie GarciaHOST
2:29
The goalie was Anton Forsberg making his second start of the pre-season with Eric Portillo serving as the backup.
Eddie GarciaHOST
2:38
As far as the level of competition the Kings would face, the Ducks did not play many of their high-end NHL talent, unlike what the Utah Mammoth did the night before when they played five of their six top forwards.
Zach SchneiderHOST
45:58
that first game.
Zach SchneiderHOST
45:59
And obviously we know what that group did, especially Scott Perunovich and Mikey Anderson, Dylan Sandberg.
Zach SchneiderHOST
46:06
But this year's freshman defensemen don't have to come in and shoulder a ton of the load, right? Because you've got Ty Hanson and Adam Kleber and Aaron Pionk and Graydon Seatman, Brady Cleveland.
Zach SchneiderHOST
46:20
You've got the veteran group.
Ken HollandSOUNDBITE_SPEAKER
45:15
So there's, you know, puck mover, you know, gets the puck up, can play, can be on the second power play.
Ken HollandSOUNDBITE_SPEAKER
45:24
And then Scott Perunovich is another offensive-minded defenseman that had produced a lot of points in college.
Ken HollandSOUNDBITE_SPEAKER
45:33
And he's been with a couple organizations, and we're excited to have him.
Ken HollandSOUNDBITE_SPEAKER
45:38
And then two young defensemen that played really good for us in the American League here, Al.
Jesse CohenHOST
10:53
Uh, you know what I will say, Wooley and, and Bruce Devich I thought looked fine.
Jesse CohenHOST
10:57
Um, Perunovich had a couple moments, but you know, there's not a lot of like kid kids, so no, nobody really stood out, honestly.
Jesse CohenHOST
11:06
Uh, can we talk about the refs before you drive home? Yeah, the refs, I thought, I, I would love to know who reffed this game.
Jesse CohenHOST
11:11
I wasn't paying attention before the game, because there were a lot of penalties that were called that I found questionable, and there were more penalties that weren't called that I also found questionable.
Jesse CohenHOST
5:37
The defenseman Brian Dumoulin was back today.
Jesse CohenHOST
5:39
Cody Ceci, Joel Edmondson, Scott Perunovich, Dave, excuse me, Drew Dowdy, not Dave Dowdy, Mikey Anderson, Eric Gustafson, and Brian Clark with Forsberg and Kemper manning the nets.
Jesse CohenHOST
5:51
really quickly holden no there were no standouts that i noticed today because what today what made today interesting was matt zugarello was not there and so right away there was one less forward than yesterday and yes dominic from 308 has either from 3088 has identified the real change was yesterday byfield was very clearly in between kempe and panarin and Zuccarello was on the second line today the top line and now I say top line but like they weren't really it's hard to determine a top line when it's a bunch of drills and you know and and they did a lot of uh close quarter drills I believe they call it where they push the nets like I don't know 10 or 15 feet apart from each other and they just sort of scrimmage like crazy in between the two nets So, not super easy to determine the lines, but essentially today, it was Panarin and Laferriere with Kempe in the middle.
Jesse CohenHOST
6:48
The next line had three players on it.
Zach DooleyGUEST
54:22
But a lot of guys who are on the bubble are not.
Zach DooleyGUEST
54:25
You know, Gustafsson or Perunovich, one of those two guys would have to go through waivers to get to the AHL.
Zach DooleyGUEST
54:31
Um, up front I believe everybody but Wright and Connors would need to go through waivers to get to the A- to the AHL, if I'm correct.
Jesse CohenHOST
54:40
I think that's right.
Evan MarinofskyHOST
28:12
Alex Lyon, great goalie.
Evan MarinofskyHOST
28:14
Scott Perunovich, who went on to win a Hobie Baker.
Evan MarinofskyHOST
28:16
He was eventually drafted his final year eligibility as a second round pick.
Evan MarinofskyHOST
28:19
But again, hidden type gem.
