Scott McCarron

Born in Sacramento, California, he attended Fresno State and turned pro in 87.

Earned his tour card in 96 and won the 2002 WGC Accenture Match Play Championship, defeating Scott McCarron in a 36-hole final.

His brother, David Sutherland, also played on the PGA Tour from 97 to 04.

His best finish in a major was T9 at the 2007 PGA Championship.

Following him, I get a return visit from a two-time winner out on the Champions Tour, Brent Jobe.

I remember a couple of months ago, I had an opportunity to sit down with Brent and his former college teammate and roommate, Scott McCarron.

That's when we were talking with Scott shortly after his diagnosis of cancer.

And I'm happy to say Scott has since beaten that cancer.

Brant has had one of those careers that reminds us that professional golf isn't always a straight line to success.

Sometimes it's about how many times you're willing to fight your way back.

He played his college golf at UCLA alongside our good friend Scott McCarron and was a part of the Bruins' 1988 NCAA National Championship team.

He was a two-time All-Pac 10 player.
