Scott City

Kind of sounds like a band name, uh, a little bit.

But, uh, the Goodland Cowboy football team on Friday night, for those who haven't heard, uh, knocked off Scott City for the first time in 23 years.

Uh, they win 42 to 36 on Friday night behind just a absolute stellar performance from senior wide receiver Jackson Miller.

Uh, what a performance it was for the senior, who accounted for over 350 total all-purpose yards.

He also had an interception in the game.

He has had some amazing games in his career and some amazing performances just this season, but Friday night was the pinnacle as he goes for four tuddies, 350... over 350 all-purpose yards.

He was just unbelievable in that performance, uh, against Scott City in what was a game for the ages.

It was unbelievable.

Best of luck to her.

Uh, yesterday, congratulations to Scott City girls and Holcomb boys.

They were your GWAC cross country champions.

Uh, Goodland girls finished third behind Emily Grace Starger, who placed ninth in the 5K.

I wanna see if anybody comes up and talks to him.

[laughs]

Uh, and of course, catch Goodland Cowboy football tonight on the road at Scott City.

Pre-game coverage at 5:00 Mountain, kickoff at 6:00.

Yesterday they had six different stops.

Today they are starting in Scott City at 9 o'clock.

They'll be in Colby.

Then they'll be wrapping up the day at Hayes.

OneOak's recently completed expansion of its Greater Denver Refined Products Pipeline does more than just add 35,000 barrels per day of capacity to ship jet fuel to Denver International Airport.

The midstream giant has larger ambitions for the 230-mile line that originates in Scott City, Kansas, as it also links Denver to mid-continent and Gulf Coast supplies and could eventually carry up to 200,000 barrels per day of refined products.

The project sits at the intersection of two increasingly important trends.

Large, growing airports are becoming important anchors for new fuel infrastructure.

First, some background.

In July 2024, OneOak announced its $480 million Denver expansion project.

The project extended the company's existing El Dorado-Denver pipeline part of its Mid-Continent to Denver refined product system, from Scott City, Kansas, to Denver.

It used 10- and 16-inch pipeline segments and added pump stations.

We'll have that rally coming up on Tuesday night at 6:30 in Garden City.

By Wednesday, we're right out of the gate, moving up to Scott City at 9:00 AM, Colby at 11:00, uh, Nicodemus at 1:30, and then by 5:00 PM, we wrap up that rally on Wednesday night, uh, in Hays, Kansas, Educating Kansas, as we do the town hall style event at Fort Hays State University in Hays, and we stay the night overnight there before heading back on the road.

We'll have some more of those dates here coming up for you, uh, in a little bit.

Also, again, all of this subject to change.

Uh, regional sports, uh, real quickly before we get out of here.

Uh, yesterday, yesterday in Scott City, a little triangular, GWAC triangular, uh, you had Colby losing to both Goodland and Scott City.

Uh, Scott City, though, with a win over Goodland and Colby.

Uh, Goodland, or, I'm sorry, Goodland beat Colby in straight sets.

Uh, Scott City reverse swept Goodland, and then Colby losing in a three...

And then Scott City, I'm sorry, completed the unbeaten night with a three set win over Colby.

They did not sweep, they won in three, so.

Uh, it is league tournament weekend a- around our area, so you've got GWAC volleyball this weekend in Colby.

Inspired by true events.

Scott City, Kansas, November 1965.

Dormant fields surround a small farm outside the tiny town.

The dried stalks of harvested corn bent like broken soldiers in the glow of a full moon.

With her eyes still closed, she twirls her finger around, pokes at the map.

She opens her eyes.

Scott City, Kansas.

Okay, then.

It's The Morning Blitz.

[upbeat music] Now, I mentioned it, uh, right off the top of the show about the Goodland Cowgirl golf team capturing a GWAC championship yesterday down at Scott City.

It was actually a really great day for Goodland High School athletics in league play, 'cause not only did the soft- about, it's the, uh ...

I almost said the softball team.

We were not in Nebraska.

They don't play fall ball here.

Uh, they not only did the golf team capture a GWAC title, but the tennis team did as well, as they won the championship down there in Scott City on Monday.

Ella Linn captured a conference title in singles.
