Schengen Agreement

Now, Canada cannot be a member because according to Article 49 of the EU Treaty, only European countries can be members of the EU.

and there are 27 states, there is something called the Schengen Agreement, which is with countries that were part of EFTA, the European Free Trade Association, which I was quite familiar with because I lived in Switzerland, and the countries were Norway, Switzerland, Iceland, and Liechtenstein.

and in the Schengen area there's no borders you can go as an individual and travel throughout that area without throughout Europe if you're a Schengen member you can also work there and you can stay there for 90 to 180 days at a time so that's an agreement that is is made with non-EU members and we could have something equivalent to that I think where we would have access to the Erasmus plan, which is 27 EU and seven non-member states that encourage sharing of education.

So Canadian students could go to Europe and vice versa.

And those people were never going to make it to the EU and never going to enter the asylum system because they were not in the EU.

Yet Maloney was among the first to use this as an argument to stop the Schengen Agreement, which is kind of the agreement that underpins the free flow of people and goods.

It's one of the foundational principles of the EU.

Once you put that into question, you basically blow up the EU.

I appreciate that she is saying we need our borders.

And she's recently been talking about the Schengen Agreement and how the Schengen Agreement is not going to be upheld if Spain keeps allowing all the Moroccans to pour into Ceuta.

So that's good.

But she's done a few other things along the way, like the 500,000 work entries that she allowed for of non-EU citizens.

We saw this most recently between Spain and Italy because Spain had the run of people down in their their their African holdout.

even though it wasn't technically in the Schengen Agreement, but it sort of was emblematic of the overall problem.

And so Italy tried to knock them out of it.

I could see Schengen maybe getting severely tweaked or severely modified because, again, it's a weird way to run it.

Because, you know, like Ireland is not a part of the Schengen Agreement.

So with the Irish visa, I'm only allowed to stay here.

For anyone who's traveled within the European Union, this feels entirely backwards.

I mean, the Schengen Agreement was designed so you could step off a plane from Rome in Madrid and just walk directly to baggage claim.

Exactly like a domestic flight.

Yeah.

Not at all.

Instead, Sanchez recently received a letter signed by 22 European leaders, including Maloney, essentially auditing and questioning Spain's internal migration policies.

At the same time, people are worried about anarchy and the collapse of the Schengen Agreement, European Union as a whole.

So let me just end it with you.

Final question, JJ, because you've seen this up close for decades.

Beyond words, nothing is done.

We don't have currently borders inside of the EU, that's the Schengen Agreement, but also outside of the EU.

Because when someone is caught in the sea, there is an obligation to bring him to the shore of europe and those people they know that so they just want to get caught because they know that as soon as they are putting a feet a foot in europe they are going to stay there forever so the situation currently is not changing in europe

What puzzles me is the enthusiasm for the European politicians and especially the European Union for bringing in very large numbers of military age men from sub-Saharan Africa who are sometimes not literate, even in their own language, are not bringing women and children and families with them.
