And on the first one, has any modern gamer gotten a true VRR HDMI splitter working? 'Cause if that was the case, it should work on this as well.
BobHOST
16:52
Kjetil Lønn Fjørgaard wants to know, "What is the recommended cable for hooking up the extra AV out from the OSSC Pro to a consumer CRT via RGB SCART?" They already have a Mister VGA to SCART RGB cable from Ultimate Mister lying around.
BobHOST
17:07
Would that be sufficient? Yes, and I need to explain why, 'cause this is gonna get into a little bit confusing territory.
BobHOST
17:13
So first, the OSSC Pro can do downscaling even without the extra AV out, but you would need a DAC for that.
BobHOST
17:50
And there are two important things to note about that cable.
BobHOST
17:53
First, as with all d-sub sources for RGBS, you're going to need a resistor in the SCART head to drop the sink voltage down to SCART levels.
BobHOST
18:03
That's pretty common, and that's something that any of these VGA to SCART cables would have, like the RetroTINK one, except the very specific piece of information here that's important is a consumer CRT with RGB SCART.
BobHOST
18:18
Most consumer PAL, uh, RGB CRTs require voltage in the SCART head in order to switch into their RGB mode, which is j- just an easy way for the TV to know, is this a composite cable or an RGB cable? Is the input active at all? Whatever.
James ShakeshaftHOST
4:17
So I said, probably that's fine.
James ShakeshaftHOST
4:19
And then I said, well, how does the telly get its signal? Is it plugged in? Aside from the electrical bit to anything, she said, well, there's a SCART lead.
James ShakeshaftHOST
4:30
A SCART lead? Yes.
James ShakeshaftHOST
4:33
Wow.
James ShakeshaftHOST
4:34
But as you and I, children of the 90s, know that you don't get external signal from a SCART lead.
James ShakeshaftHOST
4:41
Hmm.
James ShakeshaftHOST
4:41
And I said, that's probably coming from the DVD player.

Ken Bakes has a couple of questions.
BobHOST
25:31
First, they have a setup with a SCART coupler, so they have a transcoder into the coupler into the GSCART like I showed in the SCART coupler video that I had made a while back, and it keeps popping out and losing signal.
BobHOST
25:43
So is there any way or any device to keep that more secure? And for me, I would absolutely do something like maybe turn the setup on its side, add rubber bands or zip ties.
BobHOST
25:55
And when I say zip ties, I don't mean pull it until the plastic breaks.
BobHOST
26:05
You know, very, very gentle.
BobHOST
26:07
But I would just find a way to reduce any tension on there.
BobHOST
26:11
I think I even showed in my video how I had it so that the OSSC was weighting down the SCART coupler and it, uh, the SCART cable was run in a way where it actually held it in place.
BobHOST
26:21
It didn't pull it in either direction.
LeeHOST
2:38
Let's go shopping, and, uh, I'll put every price in today's money as well.
LeeHOST
2:43
In the Sinclair user adverts, uh, that, uh, September, a mail order firm had a Japanese Mega Drive, uh, converted for, uh, British tellies for $179.95 if your telly had SCART, which is about 500 quid today.
LeeHOST
3:01
If you needed to plug it, uh, into a, uh, normal aerial socket, it was $199.95, so about 550.
LeeHOST
3:11
Uh, a month later, ads like that were, uh, were offering a free, uh, cartridge on top, and Altered Beast was on the list to choose from.

First up, on Floatplane, ShorZhor is looking to integrate downscaling into their friend's setup, but they want it to be as seamless as pushing a button.
BobHOST
0:26
He uses a RetroTINK 5X for his retro consoles, so he thought splitting the HDMI from the 5X could work, and then use a DAC and an HD15 to SCART to get RGB to his CRT.
BobHOST
0:37
Do I have any recommendations on HDMI splitters that are compatible with 15kHz signals? so i do but i actually wouldn't recommend using that in this setup because when you're going to any of the downscaling equipment you're sending odd resolutions so ones that hdmi switches aren't really used to accepting and every time there's a resolution change you're going to get a signal drop and that's including even something like sega genesis games that have a 256 title and a 320 gameplay or whatever else that obviously happens a lot on playstation one So what I would recommend instead of that is just a manual push button, HDMI one to two switch.
BobHOST
1:18
They're actually bi-directional and they're essentially the same as unplugging and replugging HDMI cables, which is good and bad.
StuHOST
33:50
So I'm not sitting there with, you know, swapping disks over every second and, um, you know, waiting for ages for things to load.
StuHOST
33:59
You know, I, I'd love to just have all the games on there on, on a real, an, an Amiga going through a, you know, an RGB SCART into, um, you know, a nice sort of s- screen.
StuHOST
34:11
That, that, that's what, or, or that'll be my sort of pinnacle.
StuHOST
34:15
And, you know, get a good mouse for it and, um, y- you know, maybe a, a CD32 controller, some- something like that.

Mm
TrevHOST
44:59
... you know, you probably don't have a CRT.
TrevHOST
45:02
The best thing that I've got a, a little bit of experience of now is, you know, connecting, like, a SCART, RGB SCART connection, which the Amiga can produce.
TrevHOST
45:10
Um, get yourself an RGB SCART lead for the Amiga 1200, and then get something like an OSSC, which is a little box that allows you to plug, like, an analog source.

You could use any Mr.
BobHOST
19:31
Compatible SCART cables as well because it does require a resistor on the sync line for SCART as all D-Sub connections should because they're outputting the proper voltage.
BobHOST
19:43
which is one of the last things to mention, RGB came out at basically exactly 700 millivolts, which is perfect, and sync was 1.4 volts with just a VGA cable, which is correct.
BobHOST
19:56
If you're using just a VGA cable, and not component video, I mean, just like a standard VGA cable, that is the correct sync level.
BobHOST
20:03
But if you use a VGA to SCART cable, like any of the solutions with the resistor in line or an HT15 to SCART, then it's the exact 400-ish millivolts that you would want for SCART.
BobHOST
20:15
So this one adapter could do basically everything that you want, and it should still work with switches.
BobHOST
20:22
I demoed LumaCode with switches a while back.

No word on the other ROM carts, if you need to get the AES versions of it, That's not really surprising, but good news for us.
Pass BlasterHOST

No, they, they don't.
Pass BlasterHOST
29:18
And like, you know, they, it, he goes through and he, he converts the signal to, like, you know, an, uh, a, an upscaler, like the RGB signal via SCART, upscales it to a TV.
Pass BlasterHOST

Oh, here's the internals.
