Saw IV

And I mean, a great...

One also is the coffin with the glass, you know, that Hoffman gets in, in the end of this, in the end of Saw V, and it's shown for 0.5 seconds in Saw IV.

And it's just like, that's it, that's the box, that's our graveyard.

It's just like, stuff like that.

I don't think I've ever shared this.

Many, many years ago, I think it was like Saw 4 or Saw 5.

I didn't know what they were.

I knew the franchise existed, but I didn't know what they were.

And I went on a date.

She wanted to see the Saw movie.

She was like, oh, I love Saw.

Let's go see the movie.

Well, everybody, thank you for listening in to our Halloween episode discussing our top 10 favorite horror movies currently.

And, yeah, I'll be back on Monday with Saw 4.

Nice.

I think.

The film was originally slated to be released in October 2007 for a Halloween release, but Warner Brothers, without explanation or reason, pulled the film from the schedule and no reschedule date was announced.

One reason may have been that Saw 4 was slated to release around the same time, and Warner Brothers did not want to compete against it with fears of a big opening against them.

The film was eventually released direct to DVD in 2009.

Wow.

My understanding is that they tried for 2008 Halloween, and then they were going to do, like, an off-season wintertime 2009, and then they were finally just like, we just want it out there,

you know? Fair, fair.

But yeah, this is not the first movie that we've seen that like, oh my God, we can't release it right now because of Saw.

Like, I just love that Saw in the 2000s had like a chokehold on Halloween releases

Grainger, for the ones who get it done.

Hello and welcome to another episode of Wheel of Horror, the podcast where I normally spend a wheel once a week and it normally chooses the horror film, but we are still on our Saw journey.

So if you're new here, what's that? Let's

go.

Let's go.

Let's go, dude.

If you're new here, we are covering the Saw franchise from beginning to end.

So we've been doing that for the past couple of weeks.

did festivals for like two years, and then eventually went straight to DVD in, I think, 2009.

So it never had the availability to be a big push because it was going to release at the same time as Saw IV, and they thought they'd take the gamble on Saw instead.

The best of the Saw films.

Yeah.

It's within a couple of years, I think.

But I think Saw 4 was first.

Well, maybe I wrote the wrong ones down.

Like I said, I only had one night

Yeah,

no.

I mean, because I remember I enjoyed Saw 4.

And then when The Collector came out, I was like, oh, this feels very Saw-esque.

I don't know.

Maybe give Saw IV a try.

Maybe after this.

All right.

She's in Saw 3.

Then Saw 4 is, you know...

She's in Saw 2 as

well.

yeah.

And you know the black cop in Saw 2 who's with Donnie Wahlberg? Yes.

He's the main character of Saw 4.

Right.
