... you know, I interned at Saveur when it was its prior iteration.

Yep.

Um, so, like, there still was, like, this really different media landscape than there is now.

I'd love for you to share it.

So I was working at Saveur Magazine.

I had been an intern there.

I had been doing stages in different restaurants.

This is very early on in my career after cooking school.

Saveur back then would do mostly reportage, right? They, the photographer would travel to these amazing places in the world and photograph the food as it was served in those places, and we would test the recipes in the kitchen and make sure that they worked.

There were a few recipes from this incredible Pakistani story that Brooke Lazak, the photographer, had shot, but there were two recipes that didn't have photos.

So it was this eggplant dish, I remember, on a yogurt base.
