Save Yourselves!

But when you watch this, it is.

Also, it's made by a husband and wife directing team whose previous film, Save Yourselves, I also recommend.

And...

You know, you look at it and you're like, oh, this is going to either be quirky or funny or whatever.

Sophie, how have you been? So be sure to check out that episode, which I'm linking in the show notes.

And today we're following up with Sophie to dive deeper into her creative process, her latest projects, including the upcoming feature Wicker, starring Olivia Colman and Alexander Skarsgård, and reuniting with the directing team from Save Yourselves.

and how her editing philosophy continues to evolve.

So welcome back to the No Film School podcast,

And I love working with these two.

They're just the best.

We had such a good time on Save Yourselves.

And I knew it would be the same.

I'm your host, Mike White.

On this episode, I am talking with co-directors Alex Huston Fischer and Eleanor Wilson all about their new film, Wicker.

It's all about a wicker man.

Wait, uh, no, not the wicker man, a wicker man.

Grant, Alexander Skarsgård, Peter Dinklage, and of course, the star of the show is Olivia Colman.

Thank you so much for listening and I hope you enjoy this interview.

I remember seeing your film, what, six years ago, Save Yourselves, which was delightful.

Oh,

This comedy is from Alex Houston Fisher and Eleanor Wilson.

They did a movie in 2020 called Save Yourselves, which kind of got swallowed up by COVID, but it was like a indie quirky alien invasion movie, like a very grounded kind of alien invasion movie.

And this is just really cool in terms of tone and language.

It is sweet and it is funny and a little bit raunchy.

Alex and Eleanor have been a couple for more than a decade, and have been making films together for about half that time.

In 2020, they released their debut feature, Save Yourselves, an inspired comedy about a couple sequestered in upstate New York for digital detox who become aware that while they were offline, aliens invaded Earth.

Charming, inventive, and incredibly fun, Save Yourselves announced the pair as filmmakers to watch and created the opportunity for them to make their second film,

Wicker.

A buzz hit at Sundance this past winter, Wicker stars Olivia Colman as a fisherwoman who commissions the local basket weaver, Petra Dinklage, to make her a wicker husband, who turns out to be Alexander Skarsgård.

disorder, and that's just the way it is.

Yeah.

i guess that's sort of why jack and save yourselves is oh yeah yeah

Written and directed by Alex Huston Fisher and Elena Wilson.

They're a filmmaking duo and couple behind Save Yourselves.

Are they an actual couple? Yeah.

Imagine that.
