From the tanker war, we move south to Saudi Arabia, where the Houthi movement in Yemen carried out one of its largest attacks on Saudi soil in years overnight Tuesday into Wednesday.

Houthi forces, which are backed by Iran and have fought a grinding civil war inside Yemen since two thousand and fourteen, launched what their military spokesman, Brigadier General Yahya Saree, described as a large-scale operation using dozens of ballistic missiles and drones.

The targets included Saudi Aramco facilities in the cities of Abha, Najran, and Jizan, along with King Khalid Air Base in Khamis Mushait.

Saree framed the attack as retaliation for what he said were one hundred and twenty-one Saudi airstrikes on Yemen over the preceding three days.

Saudi Arabia's energy ministry confirmed that several energy sector facilities and installations in the kingdom's southern region were hit, sparking fires and forcing a temporary halt to operations at multiple sites while damage was assessed.

Saudi officials said seventy-three people were wounded in the barrage, including women and children.
