Sarah Hall

Now, better sleep, of course, you know, sleep is becoming a big talk, and, uh, I mean, it's all over the internet, and athletes talk a lot about recovery and sleep.

And, uh, is that the connection part that led you to partner with, uh, runner Sarah Hall?

Not, not directly, but yes, because we're very aligned.

Because Sarah is...

I was just kinda that little kid, uh, in kind of deer in the headlights, like starstruck.

I remember being at trials and I had a journal where I would write stuff down and [chuckles] I wrote down, "Sarah Hall shook my hand," and, uh, all these women that I looked up to.

I got to race in the trials and, uh, my, my high school coach, again, I said he, he was very great, and he was a runner himself, so he- Uh, he didn't run professional or anything, but he ran post-collegiately, so he was able to help guide me really well and just he was always telling me that, you know, we're thinking long-term.

We wanna do well in school and do well in our faith and just do our best.

Yeah, that's different.

They're outright winning races, but the problem is that, you know, it'd be like if Sarah Hall goes to the, you know, Waukesha marathon and wins it outright.

It doesn't mean that the, that women are getting better.

It just means that there's, you know, not a huge men's field at the Waukesha marathon, you know? So, but this is like, all of the this would be like if the boston marathon was won by a woman and not a man you know

How severely do they rebuke the apathy of thousands of young persons who allow golden opportunities of improvement to slip away from them forever.

Opportunities which to Sarah Hall and such as she were of priceless value.

Yet it is not one of the least of the compensations with which the providence of God abounds that the very lack of favorable circumstances is sometimes most favorable to the development of latent resources.

Thus it was with Sarah.

But as the resident honorable mention All-American on this podcast, I'm just going to say by qualifying for the fields, you can be part of the club, the honorable, whatever the like honorary one that is if you don't – if you basically place in like the bottom of the pack, which is where I was, you don't really, you get to still call yourself like a honorable mention.

I think the weird thing about this, and I guess I shouldn't be nervous because like runners in general are just really nice and welcoming, but you know, like Sarah Hall is at, I don't know who else is in the elite field, but Sarah Hall is one of the names that has been advertised to be in the elite field and And I've been watching Sarah Hall run since I was a kid.

And sure, I've seen her at races before, but it just is sort of a surreal moment, right? When you look at the line like, oh, I've been a fan of this person for a really long time.

I've gotten coffee with Kira D'Amato and have had conversations with her.

Well, my big thing, particularly as it relates to this race, and again, I did put this on Instagram, and this is a real thing that happened, and I double-checked to make sure I didn't quote it wrong because it actually happened.

This sounds so silly, but I remember last year when I ran New Haven.

It was my first race postpartum, and I saw Sarah Hall doing striders, Karen, as she was warming up.

And after the race, she had commented on my Instagram and said, like, congratulations.

And it was in Arizona.

pancake flat course like a loop like it was just kind of like a not a exciting course but a flat and potentially fast course Sarah Hall I think ran 220 on the course we had one of our Olympians Natasha Wodak go and do it and she ran I think 226 qualified for the Olympics that day so there was a there was a proof of concept but it was only ever meant to just be that one day in the pandemic I think October, December or something of 2020.

And then he, so when he finished, he used to be the coach of Northern Arizona Elite.

And when he stepped back from that, he's like, I need another thing.

It's interesting.

I'm just reading Sarah Hall's book and, you know, they lived at altitude all the time.

They still do.

But, um, interesting for her to kinda have to figure out exactly which, which city worked for her.

It was rather singular that both Mrs. Sarah Judson and Mrs. Emily should have been, in a degree, influenced by the life and character of Anne Hasselton Judson in earlier days and without personal acquaintance.

At the time of little Roger Judson's death, Mrs. Sarah Hall, later Mrs. Broadman, was deeply moved in sympathy and wrote a little poem about it, her thoughts doubtless turning to the young mother so bereaved.

In her girlhood, Emily Chubbuck was greatly impressed by reading the memoir of Mrs.

A. H. Judson, and felt in her secret heart that she herself ought to become a missionary, and would become one though she only half confessed to herself what was then irksome to think of.
