I'm Marissa.

And I'm Sarah.

And we are your historians for this episode of Dig.

Protestants were suspicious of the word from day one, since it was literally the name of a Catholic office designed to win back their flocks.

But it doesn't become the really dirty word that we know today until the 20th century.

As Sarah Gaunt points out, it's, quote, recent pejorative connotations date mainly from the excesses of atrocity propaganda during the Great War, the First World War of 1914 to 1918.

And keep this in mind.

We also got updates for Gail Simone's Uncanny X-Men, including issues 41 and 42, continuing the Soul Deep storyline with art by Juan Figuera.

and Sarah Gaunt is returning with plans to destroy Xavier's legacy.

Now, she's been a pretty interesting character, and how exactly she plans to destroy Xavier's legacy, what that means... how she's going to target younger mutants, how she's going to recruit them to her cause, all that remains to be seen.

Nightcrawler is standing between Gaunt and the students, and Gaunt is prepared to kill anybody who stands in her way, refuses to join her.

... not to follow through on it.

And then 25 issues later, Sarah Gaunt is now back, and she is, like, returning as, like, a major villain after, like, having an arc and then being in the prison at Graymalkin.

So, um, I, I am impressed with, like, the longevity of Gail's plans and the follow through.

For sure, yeah.

I got to do that twice.

It was turned down, but I don't like Sarah Gaunt because it just doesn't fit.

Gail's trying to do a weird thing where she's created a certain kind of telepath.

It's almost going back to the Chuck Austin era, where, like, certain mutants have, like, a certain mutation that makes them connected to each other.

The externals are that, but when you get into, like, the lupine and, like, the naefim and all those things Chuck Austin was doing, it's almost doing that.

There's, like, a bald telepath... section of people that she's trying to call the avians uh a little boy with cancer named harvey x dies and then there's this other guy at the prison who anyway ryan tell us who sarah gaunt is she's known as the hag and i hate her why do i have to

define what a hag is um how's so much

in common
