Sara Karloff

Oh, Taurus Karloff.

With Sarah Karloff.

She was involved with The Last Picture Show.

She was sort of the woman behind the man.

He's so fascinating as a person.

If, if you guys missed the calendar reveal that I put on Instagram, uh, which be sure to follow us on Instagram at ticklishbiz, we are gonna have Sarah Karloff, Boris Karloff's daughter, on, uh, in, in a week or two, which is gonna be really fun to talk to her about this movie.

He's such a gentle character in this movie, and you understand why he has to be, you know, they call him a drunk.

Well, I can understand why he's a drunkard, you know? Like, he's living-

I'm going back to be with them s- s- uh, at the end of October to conduct the London premieres of my Frankenstein score with the film and the great orchestra at Cadogan Hall, which is their main hall.

Um, and the wonderful thing is Sarah Karloff, the only child of Boris Karloff, is gonna be with me in a Q&A before.

We're being interviewed by Pamela Hutchinson, a very well-known film historian and who recently wrote a wonderful article for The Guardian on us, and, um, it's getting covered by the local newspapers.

London's Great, BBC, and so forth.

[laughs]

And a month later, I get an envelope with his picture as he was then, and he must have taken out of an old box because the paper is crinkly, of him as the monster.

And then I became very close friends with Sarah Karloff many years later.

So here, it, it just, here's the thing, serious answer.

The funny story about that is that when we were running some of the early versions of this, I was trying to match the really flat, reading that Walter Miller did as Trent.

And Sarah Karloff had watched this and she said, I don't know who you had in the first reel doing Trent, but he's really bad.

And I said, Sarah, that was me.

And I was trying to be like the real actor.

And I, um, and I'm the gorilla in a couple of scenes and my, uh, Son of my brother-in-law, Bruce Lee, is in a few scenes.

And Glory, my significant other here, is in a couple scenes doing the gorilla.

And I thought, well, you know, we also should have fun with this and have Sarah Karloff do some of this.

Sarah was kind of gung-ho about it.
