SAP S/4HANA

I think you guys have had some updates.

I know that you are coming from SAP S4 HANA conference.

Some update from there, I guess.

So whatever you can share.

You know, my audience is going to have a lot of follow-up questions.

And Sam, you know, I don't know whether I told you or not, my official name is WDIM, okay? And what that means is, what does it mean? And I'm always trying to figure out, okay, what does it mean for SAP? What does it mean for Everest? What does it mean for, you know, competitors, community, for everybody? So let's say if I look at this from the official lenses.

So let's say you are saying that, number one question, AI specify you are talking to SAP S4 HANA, Everest, then I don't know if you guys are still pitching yourself as ERP.

Obviously, ERP product is different.

In the previous slide, that automotive business I mentioned, you know, there was this presentation that we've seen.

So SAP was switching to S4HANA environment.

So it was the cloud version of the base of the old version, but it was able to cut down a number of clicks that you do to get to finalize certain actions.

There was less clicking on the screen happening.

But these companies are going to have very complex business models along with make-to-stock processes.

They might have many other processes that they are trying to host as part of the same erp model maybe they have several different entities spread globally and they are trying to host all of that as part of the same product model in those use cases oracle cloud erp would be a great fit syspro is not going to be as globally localized for different global entities it's not going to have as deep multi-entity shared services the financial organizations organization may not be as complex as layered as what you are going to find inside oracle cloud erp so again for very complex companies make to stock companies oracle cloud erp is going to be a great fit and that's number nine Number eight on our list is SAP S4 HANA.

SAP S4 HANA is a very similar product as Oracle Cloud ERP.

It's designed for very large enterprises when they might be trying to accommodate many different business models or they might not be sure where their business model might be in the next five to seven years.

In those use cases, SAP S4 HANA is a great fit because it can accommodate many different business models along with your make-to-stock processes.

When you are trying to combine, consolidate a lot of different make-to-stock global workloads inside your SAP S4 HANA product model, data model, process model, in those use cases, SAP S4 HANA would be a great fit.

sap s4 hana would be slightly more generalized product compared to your for example syspro syspro used to be a little bit of generalized product as well but they have changed their direction now they are trying to accommodate as much functionality as part of their product as opposed to getting that capability from other third-party providers.

So when you take that approach, you lose the flexibility.

Blake, when I was reading the research and one of my favorite emails or messages I get is, hey, Jim, hot new research that's ready for you to look at before anyone else.

I was reading this S4 research and one of my biggest takeaways, and I love sort of the framing that you all have started using, is SAP S4 HANA sort of breaking down the different types of journeys and where people are and sort of where they are and sort of, using the actual solution and differentiating them between newcomers and seasoned professionals.

Why don't you give us an overview of what the breakdown is from newcomers to pros of S4?

Absolutely.

Sure.

When I think about this trajectory, and you rattled off so many things, right? And the way that I think about this from an ASUG North American perspective is we finally have this amazing clarity about why you should go to S4 HANA, right? We didn't have this...

12 years ago.

And one of the things I've been thinking about is we as a collective customer community have been on this journey to adopt the latest version of SAP's flagship ERP for 12-ish years.

I think I've been in this role as the chief community champion for ASUG for about that time.

And I think when I first came in, it was like, hey, HANA, S4 HANA.

And I'm like, And I'm thinking now, I'm like, are we still talking about this? It's so long.

And yet so many of our community members are still on this journey.

So that's a real possibility for continuing education that would help organizations.

We also can do customized programs, whether it's you need sales training for your Salesforce, or maybe you're on SAP right now and you want to get your folks certified in SAP for the new S4 HANA transition that's coming in the next couple of years.

We do that as well.

Really, any of the Any of the programs on campus that we offer can be customized to provide training for your organization.

In those use cases, you might need to use an add-on with Acumatica, depending upon how many different business models you have, how many different processes you have as part of your make-to-order manufacturing business model.

so akumatica would be a better fit for companies that are pure play discrete and if you are going to have any other business models for example construction field service all of those are supported as part of the same product for those make to order manufacturers so that's number six Number five on our list is SAP S4 HANA.

And SAP S4 HANA would be a great fit for very large make-to-order manufacturers.

This would be comparable to something like Oracle Cloud ERP when you are trying to host many different global workloads, entities as part of the same model.

And you don't care as much for the sub-ledger functionality, the last-mile functionality.

You are looking for slightly fluid model, flexible model where you can utilize many different systems and you want those systems to be pre-integrated, available.

In those use cases, SAP S4 HANA would be a great fit.

So that's number five.

great to hear.

When I first started at ASUG, I was interviewing an ASUG board member who he'd gone through an S4 HANA implementation at his company.

I think it was his third overall SAP implementation over the many years he'd been at this company.

And it was my first ever interview.

Like one is on-premise, another is private cloud, and then the public cloud.

When it comes to S4 HANA on-premise, all these, especially on-premise and private cloud, I mostly see that, you know, they say the custom reports are not working and they're not able to do month-end close on time.

And they say that the IT, the custom reports, when they're moving, from quality to production, are not performing well.

And they say they are doing a lot of depreciation calculations outside the systems because it's not supported.

And I mean...

There's also, if you dig back, during the implementation phase, because of the costing, I've seen people say that, okay, let's not implement Fiori.

Let's just go with GUI itself and then use S4 HANA just like that.

And they follow that forever.
