Um, in a way, he-- the way he acts here, you know, seems to resemble Toshiro Mifune in some of the Kurosawa films.

You know, almost like a bumbling, bumbling warrior, like Yojimbo, Sanjuro.

Another hint of his eye problems here.

He, he's asking out-- You know, he's calling out, "Stop the bus." He seems to know when to stop the bus, not because he could see where they are, but I think because he's been timing himself as to how long he's been on the bus.

Late in March, Carlos leader Falconde went to Portugal to speak with the exiled Jose Sanjuro, who had been the ranking general in the Spanish army who led the unsuccessful uprising against the Republic in 1932.

Falconde and his aides dressed Sanjuro's son Pepito as a Requeta with his own red beret.

Sanjuro was deeply removed and he and the Carlos agreed to support one another with Sanjuro to take command of the Requeta when they went into battle.

By now, nearly all the Carlos leadership was convinced of the inevitability of war to save the faith in Spain.

Plans for a Carlos coup in Madrid were already being made by various Carlos leaders and supported by General Varela, but they were still premature and an official approval for such a venture had not yet been given by Falconde or Alfonso Carlos.

On May 4th, a number of churches in Madrid were attacked.

Like, again, when I told everyone that it was a samurai drama, they were expecting, like, again, expecting sword fights akin to gunfights like you have in Sanjuro and Ujimbo.

But, again, it's more on the more high drama end where it's, like, more about the Game of Thrones-iness of it.

So, we do see a battle in the film, we see a couple of battles in the film, but they're either just talked about, or we just see a bunch of people running, and nothing actually happens.

way that films are done with the idea of a knight and like the idea of that like chivalric era and like way of behaving especially with Yojimbo and Sanjuro I think but that's interesting though because Toshi Mifune as an actor he's the hero character but he's not the hero character in like a in like a proper like shining like paragon he's a dirty scruffy like

I am excited to watch the second episode.

Second With You, which, oh, the second one's name is Sanjuro, which I got a little confused at the beginning of this movie because they ask him what his name is and he looks out and he's like, oh, and he sees, I forgot what the translation is now, but he sees something.

It's like a strawberry field or something.

And he's like, that, that's my name, Sanjuro.

So he says his name at the beginning of this movie and he just picks some random thing and says that's his name.

And that's actually the title of the next film, the sequel.

Yeah.

But in this one, yeah.

Right.

I want to ask you guys have you ever seen Sanjuro?

No.

I don't know that.

Sanjuro, and it's a sequel to-

... oh my God, a delight.

Um, the sequel to Yojimbo, Sanjuro, which is also very good.

Not, I don't think, quite as good as Yojimbo, but it is also sort of the beginning of the frequent like visual aesthetic in a lot of like chanbara films with, there's a lot of like blood spray and all that.

Mm-hmm.

And it originates with like one of the last scenes in Sanjuro that was kind of a mistake.
