Sanism specifically to try to exterminate opposition.

People are equating me speaking truth to power with having a mental illness.

Of course, there are other theorizations of stigma, but this is how it's used in anti-stigma campaigns, for example.

Um, and what that misses and what sanism brings to the table is that, of course, biomedical treatment can sometimes be really harmful, right? Sanism is articulating the harms of the psychiatric system, and it's also, um, you know, sanism is an oppression, a form, a form of oppression that is similar to and also inextricably bound up with things like racism, transphobia, homophobia.

So sanism offers a much more comprehensive way of looking at oppression than something like stigma.

And then anti-Black sanism is something that's been articulated by Dr. Itiel Abdallahi, um, Sonia Marais, and Jennifer Poole.
