Sanford Greene

Craig Yeo, fantastic comic historian, put out a book that documented all the times that the comic book industry put out free comic books to promote the idea of voting.

pretty smart and really it goes back decades but to join us in the discussion we've got two great comic book creators Sanford Greene who of course recently well this coming month in our next month I should say November has a great dark side one shot that he's doing with Scott Snyder and Chicago's very own Emil Ferris who did the award-winning my favorite thing is monsters so they helped Craig in this book and it was great to get this wonderful discussion and about how important voting is.

It is a right that we are very happy to have here in the United States and in many Western countries, but it is not enjoyed over the world.

So not only is it a privilege, but it's your duty to go out next Tuesday and vote.

Wow, you're making me look good.

They're making me look good.

You know, I got my buddy Sanford Greene, who, of course, right now is doing the victory lap for his excellent collections of Bitterroot and the like.

Well done, Sanford.

And this week's guest is the artist of this week's DC All In, Darkseid versus the world number one.

It's Sanford Greene.

Thanks for coming on, Sanford.

Hey, David, thanks for having me.

The ultimate anti-life in the universe has been at the heart of the DC All-In saga since its beginning.

And while the King Omega battle has been won by the forces of the good, the war against Darkseid has only just begun.

Comic superstars Scott Snyder and Sanford Greene present the hidden past of the being called Uxus.

Do you know how to pronounce that? Uxess.

But a- and except for the exterior, the, the end aisles, the exterior aisles along the wall, um...

And because Felix's crew was down at the end of there, and that's, and, and that's gonna be impossible to walk through anyway because everybody wants to get a, a, a, a Nick Dragotta signature, um, or Sanford Greene.

But you have, aside from those out- exterior aisles, the aisles even upstairs.

Uh, but Artist Alley aisles seem to be a bit wider than, than I think we're used to.

The artists at the Icon Festival are going to blow your mind.

There's Nick Dragotta, Daniel Warren Johnson, Ryan Ottley, Sanford Greene, Dustin Nguyen, Dan Panosian, Bil Sienkiewicz-

Yeah

...

What?

He has Ryan St- Not, not, like, literally Ryan Stegman and, uh, Sanford Greene, who are the artists for the book, are characters in the book, and they have been kidnapped by a guy, it's like an AI metaphor, who's like, "I'm gonna...

I don't have any creativity, but I can manipulate reality, and I'm gonna use your creativity to make art." And he's making these, like, monsters.

And do you not remember this comic? [laughs]

Um, I drop a new episode every Monday, and it's roughly a, completely these days, an interview podcast.

Um, I've had people like Daniel Warren Johnson, Erik Larsen, Mark Silvestri, Todd McFarlane, Nick Dragotta, uh, and most recently today, uh, as we are recording this, Monday, September 28th, uh, Sanford Greene joined me on the podcast, and we talked about his next book with, uh, DC and Scott Snyder.

So those are the two things.

Uh, Dar- Direct Edition's available everywhere that you get your podcasts, but you know, you can just do a one-two, subscribe to West Coast Avengers and Direct Edition on YouTube, and then, you know, you can listen to me talk about comics for many hours at a time.
