... tournaments over a longer period of time, right? So it- it's the difference between, um, I don't know, Sergio Garcia and Sandy Lyle, right? Like Sergio has one major, but he's a better golfer than Sandy Lyle.

He just either, however you wanna look at it, choked away a couple tournaments or majors or, um, got unlucky and didn't take advantage of the opportunities that he had.

So but in most instances, like that player who's better at golf is going to end up with more, like a better resume of wins over the course of his career than the lesser player.

know, like when Sandy Lyle wins the US Masters and he's got these big sweat patches.

But it was a fantastic goal.

And our life, 13 years old, was golf.

after school every day and if you put time you get quite good at it and I was I got to standard quite quickly I became junior captain played in other tournaments you know junior golf was not that well promoted but then late mid 80s my idol my junior golf idol was sandy Lyle I mean there was no tiger around then and Jack and So I was needing that and probably just a bit out of it.

So it was Sandy Lyle, Ian Woosner, Nick Faldo.

And I remember reading Sandy Lyle's book.

I think at school I won an award.

It was a sports award for school and they gave me Sandy Lyle's biography as my award.

I mean, it's like really a treat.

Sorry, Sandy Lyle.

The best golfer was, I've definitely said it, he was the best player I ever played with.

One of the finest players was Sandy Lyle.

Sandy Lyle had the best distance control you've

ever seen.

Sandy Lyle, you watch him, he never hit, when he missed a green, he was always pin-high.

Whatever shot he hit, he was pin-high.

But the best player I've ever played with in full flow, when everyone's standing there swinging, the best he ever can, that's what it was.

It got me a bit teary, really, because he was talking so passionately about Welsh golf and an era and a time in Welsh golf that I really got into it, you know.

He was caddying for me on the European Tour, 86, 87, back in the day.

I was one of the better players, but... certainly not in the top five or six players, but I got to play with Seve and Bernhard and Nick and Sandy Lyle and the big five they were known as then, the players... through the mid-80s that just excelled and changed the game in Europe.

Played a lot with them.

Played with Steve.

Now I know as a Scottish golf podcast, Faldo maybe wasn't the biggest of hits or the biggest of idols, should I say, in Scotland when he was growing.

Competing against the likes of Sandy Lyle and Monty.

But I love Feldergren.

I thought he was an amazing player, amazing ball striker.
