How do you get buy-in? It's my charming personality, obviously.
21:17
How do I get by? And I think it really, for me, it always starts with level setting.
21:22
And to me, it always comes with recognizing different perspectives.
21:25
And I think that if you level set at the very beginning of the conversation and you look to approach things in a way that is going to earn the trust and the buy-in from people at the very beginning, then and you continue to steward that, you're going to get to that end goal.
21:42
As an example, housing affordability is something that, you know, that I've been in the space that I've been working in.
21:47
Going back to the beginning of our conversation, I can assure you there was never once a period in my life, neither growing up or through my education, where I thought someday I am going to be considered a leader in the housing space across the state of Florida.
22:01
never on my bingo card, never anything that I thought that I was going to fall into.

on this same issue so instead of getting frustrated and thinking he or she doesn't care i'm never going to get to where i want to get to i love that think about what do we agree on and then what might their perspective be what am i not thinking about or considering because they are sitting in a different place they're the leader they're coming from a different organization and when we can even acknowledge that for ourselves we can soften up and then have that conversation in a better way So was there a point where you made the leap and thought, I want a bigger, more public career, or did it really just happen gradually?
5:28
So to what extent are the workforce shortages companies face now actually driven by housing affordability and availability, and how can we address that?
5:39
That is a fantastic question and one that I am certainly discussing every single day.
5:45
One of the things that really excites me about conversations around housing affordability out as of the last, perhaps even coming close to a decade, is that we've really been able to change the narrative about the way that we talk about our housing issues.
5:59
A decade ago, it was really when you talked about affordable housing, it was nonprofits and folks that are really more in that activist space that really wanted people to know or really wanted to sell people on the idea that housing is a right and that everyone should have the right to be housed.
6:20
And when I first really started to dive deep in the advocacy space, I said, we need to take a step back.
6:26
Right.
6:26
Because the phrasing or the language, the nomenclature is important.

So looking ahead about five to 10 years, what trends do you believe are going to help reshape our housing landscape?
