Sure, the Sandcrawler was a bit pricier, but Kenner actually considered that a radio control toy, so it occupied a different category.

Though, like the Death Star, the Falcon was packaged four to a case, the Falcon carried a wholesale price of $19.70, whereas the Death Star was only $17.40.
