A perfect example of this is the series Monstress.

I have to stop and just talk about the art for a second because visually, this book is staggering.

Staggering is the right word.

It does not look like anything else on the shelves.

It is set in this world that feels like a collision of 1920s art deco aesthetics and deep Asian mythology.

It is incredibly visually distinctive, and part of that is due to Sana Takeda's specific artistic process.

What does she do differently?

Netflix has bought a good report here on Comic Speed here through What's On Netflix, a report based on something that really follows what Netflix is picking up.

has picked up the license to a bunch of comic books, including Beneath the Trees Where Nobody Sees, Geiger, Infinite Horizon, the Gary Derrigan and Phil Noto comic from about 20 years ago from Image, Invisible Emmy, which I do not know, The Night Eaters, which is the Majori Liu and Sana Takeda's Grafnol series that's out recently, and Mike Mignola's Radio Spaceman.

This is from Marjorie Liu and Sana Takeda, the acclaimed team behind Monstrous.

That's a great team.

It's a horror trilogy about Chinese-American twins, a failing restaurant, a demon hunter mother, and a terrifying abandoned house across the street.
