So here's a look at that advisory.
Spencer ChristianCORRESPONDENT
8:25
And you can see that it's for the shorelines of both bays, San Francisco Bay and San Pablo Bay, and the Pacific coastline.
Spencer ChristianCORRESPONDENT
8:33
Again, this is in effect until 5 p.m. Friday now.
Spencer ChristianCORRESPONDENT
8:36
The next high tide will occur at about 12.56 p.m. tomorrow.

10 MINS LATER

Spencer ChristianCORRESPONDENT
18:37
Here's that coastal flood advisory again now in effect until 5 p.m. Friday.
Spencer ChristianCORRESPONDENT
18:40
Above average high tides, next high tide 1256 p.m. tomorrow at a height of 7.7 feet.
Spencer ChristianCORRESPONDENT
18:47
So look for localized flooding around the shorelines of San Pablo Bay, San Francisco Bay, some of the interior valleys of the North Bay and along the Pacific coastline as well.
Spencer ChristianCORRESPONDENT
18:56
So those conditions will be with us for at least three more days.
Kristen SzeHOST
4:14
well spencer christian is here now with the answer for us hey spencer
Spencer ChristianCORRESPONDENT
4:18
okay christian and dan well the uh coastal flood advisory will be in effect until 3 p.m thursday it could be extended but as of now it's until 3 p.m thursday look for localized flooding around the shorelines of san pablo bay san francisco bay and the pacific coastline as well during times of high tides now there are a couple factors at work here the el nino effect means warmer ocean waters Rising ocean temperatures means expansion of the ocean, of the water volume, I should say, which is what we call thermal expansion.
Spencer ChristianCORRESPONDENT
4:47
But we've also got the gravitational pull of the full moon.
Spencer ChristianCORRESPONDENT
4:49
So those factors together are increasing our high tides to a higher level than average.

15 MINS LATER

Spencer ChristianCORRESPONDENT
19:57
But as I mentioned earlier, they tend to be trending southward.
Spencer ChristianCORRESPONDENT
20:00
Now, here's our coastal flood advisory.
Spencer ChristianCORRESPONDENT
20:03
In effect, until 3 p.m. Thursday, during times of high tide, there's a greater chance of localized flooding, especially in low-lying areas around parks and roads, lots right around the shorelines of San Francisco Bay and San Pablo Bay and along the Pacific coastline as well.
Spencer ChristianCORRESPONDENT
20:18
On we go to overnight conditions.
SamuelHOST

A city that whispers about the strange going-ons in that manner.
SamuelHOST
7:54
Fifty miles north of San Francisco, above the San Pablo Bay, rests the beautiful Napa Valley.
SamuelHOST
8:02
Green, lush, and fertile, the valley contains densely forested woodlands and overflowing vineyards.

Bob BaileyVOICE_ACTOR

Spencer ChristianCORRESPONDENT
11:18
One more live view from the east bay hills camera looking toward the bay bridge these are our forecast headlines mildly and tomorrow with a mix of sun and high clouds we'll call it filtered sunshine a minor cooling on monday and tuesday but under sunny skies and it'll still be dry but the end of the week will bring big changes cooler pattern cloudier and a chance of showers there is also a coastal flood advisory in effect until 3 p.m thursday Now, during the times of periods of high tides and we're going to have higher than normal high tides the next few days, there could be localized flooding, especially in low lying areas right around the base shoreline of San Francisco Bay and San Pablo Bay over in the Pacific Coast as well.
Spencer ChristianCORRESPONDENT
11:55
So in low lying areas during the high tides, once again, look for low lying, look for flooding of of parks and lots and roadways.
Spencer ChristianCORRESPONDENT
12:04
OK, overnight, we'll see high clouds beginning to move in overnight.
Lisa ArgenHOST
17:30
That's coming in at 1039 in San Francisco.
Lisa ArgenHOST
17:33
But you can see the San Pablo Bay, those areas to the north there affected and also into the East Bay here.
Lisa ArgenHOST
17:39
So keep that in mind.
Lisa ArgenHOST
17:40
This is going to be a common theme.

21 MINS LATER

Lisa ArgenHOST

Lisa ArgenHOST
38:51

Lisa ArgenHOST

Gill Gordon SmithHOST
4:14
So Napa Valley, the north coast.
Gill Gordon SmithHOST
4:17
Napa Valley lies north of San Pablo Bay and runs broadly north to south.
Gill Gordon SmithHOST
4:21
Cool air and fog from the bay have their strongest influence in the south.
Gill Gordon SmithHOST
4:25
So the southern valley is generally cooler and the northern end warmer.
Gill Gordon SmithHOST
5:33
Now place the important Napa AVAs on a simple journey from south to north.
Gill Gordon SmithHOST
5:37
Los Carneros lies at the southern end of Napa and extends into Sonoma.
Gill Gordon SmithHOST
5:42
It's strongly influenced by cool air and fog from San Pablo Bay.
Gill Gordon SmithHOST

The longer, cooler growing season suits Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, including grapes for traditional method sparkling wine.
Angelica de Vere MabrayGUEST
19:54
And then to our right here, you have the Petaluma Gap.
Angelica de Vere MabrayGUEST
19:57
So what that does is you've got the wind coming off the Pacific Ocean to my right, and you have the wind coming off of the pacific ocean but more specifically san pablo bay coming from this direction and so carneros is notoriously windy it has a lot of great benefits in terms of grape growing but it creates a really unique microclimate here because we're getting both effects
Josh MeyersHOST
20:17
yeah you are a winery but you don't have to be drinking wine to come here anyone can come yeah
Angelica de Vere MabrayGUEST
20:24
Absolutely.
Angelica de Vere MabrayGUEST
21:39
yes yeah and we will always accommodate anyone that has mobility issues and make sure that they can have the full experience as well This is called Sonic Mountain, and this was designed by Doug Aitken.
Angelica de Vere MabrayGUEST
21:55
And Doug came to Donham in 2018 and walked the property and was very inspired by this location amongst the eucalyptus here.
Angelica de Vere MabrayGUEST
22:06
So the beautiful filtered light coming through, the smell of the eucalyptus, all of these factors, and of course the wind that we talked about earlier coming off the Petaluma Gap and off of San Pablo Bay.
Angelica de Vere MabrayGUEST
22:17
He... envisioned these beautiful circles of sound.
Gill Gordon SmithHOST
3:07
The cooler Russian River Valley and the Sonoma Coast favour Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, while warmer Alexander Valley and Dry Creek Valley suit fuller-bodied reds.
Gill Gordon SmithHOST
3:16
Los Caneros, shared by Napa and Sonoma, is cooled by San Pablo Bay and is important for Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and traditional method sparkling wine.
Gill Gordon SmithHOST
3:26
Farther south, the central coast includes the Santa Cruz Mountains, Monterey, San Luis Obispo County and Santa Barbara County.
Gill Gordon SmithHOST
3:34
Coastal influence, altitude and valley orientation create both cool and warm sites.
